Some Protestant fundamentalists think alcohol is sinful, but in the Gospel of St. John, 2:1-11 Jesus turned water into wine.

In the Old and New Testament wine is a regular beverage, but in Proverbs 20:1 it is written: "Wine [is] a mocker, strong drink [is] raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise."

In the First Epistle of Timothy 5:23 St. Paul wrote, "Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities."

The Koran prohibits the use of alcohol, but some Moslems smoke hash.
