Hi everyone The other day I went to get dreads from a lady I heard was meant to be good at it.. however even though I loved them, I had to comb them out as she had been lazy and used wayyy too much wax that I didn't want to stay in there forever! I really loved my baby dreadies and would love to get them done again by someone who knows what they're doing ... but first I'd like some opinions.. is it worth it & would they suit me? etc. My hair's quite big.. so when it's dreaded it's MASSIVE! Before: After: Any advice, or comments would be really appreciated. xxx
i did wash them, and they came out, lol. the woman who did them really didnt have a clue! they were basically a construction of wax xxx
This exactly why we tell people NOT to go to a salon for dreads! I think you look cute with locks! I like them on you. You should do them naturally next time...nix the conditioner and the comb...and you'll be good to go.
it appears the general consensus on backcombed hair is that it has to fall out before it can dread up. my kid's hair didn't start dreading until I stopped backcombing it. So why not try leaving it alone and seeing what happens? and ditto the previous posters, your dreads really were super cute on you!!
Thanks for the comments everyone, i've not touched it for about 2 weeks and it is starting to lock up a little bit, a lot quicker than i expected! its really knotty at the back and ive even managed to separate it a little bit into a few dreads that are forming. i'm so excited! xxx
No just leave them be, dont wax them or roll them or anything. Let them do their thing and they will be great!
yea just let them grow in now by themselves. seperate them tho, and it will be easier in the end. i say u should palm roll them now after u section ur hair, that way u wont have so much ripping and tearing in the long run. I think u look adorable with dreadies!! keep with them!! peace~
they looked nice I had mine started at a salon and she used a bit too much wax but I washed/melted it out eventually. If you go to a salon again, then make sure they have worked with making dreads with caucasian hair. It's up to you. Just don't let anyone use that much wax. I used wax before I came here and found out how un-great it was. It took several months to completely wash out so if you do use it, use a TIIINY bit. I prefer naked hair or hair with just a bit of dread gel in it
oooooo i love u with dreads!!! there all big and stuff!! i love big dreads they rock. mine were big too, cause i have BIIGG hair. awsome stuff man. i fucking miss mine, u guys make me jelious
