Being And Nothingness by Sartre is probably the greatest existential text you can find. However, it is rarely "understood". I have not read it in full, but I have skimmed over it and it looks quite readable. Best of luck!
If you are just starting to get into existentialism, don't jump right into "Being & Nothingness"...start with some of Sartre's fiction which introduces some of his major ideas, such as his novel "Nausea" and his play "No Exit". His essay "Existentialism Is a Humanism" is very readable and clearly states his beliefs. Also, although Camus never considered himself an existentialist, his book of essays called "The Myth of Sisyphus" is a wonderful introduction to the existentialist mindset.
Do not only read The Stranger, but most everything by Camus. Sartre is a good choice, as is Kafka, Kierkegaard, Nietzsche, etc. Great album in your sig, Stonerman420.
Emerson and Walt Whitman are the 2 I learned about in high school. Emerson has been on my list of favorite philosophers for years. I'm still more of an Epicurean.
