...and we need new couches....need to find a way to talk hubby into buying couches now instead of when we move.
Lately I've been avoiding the sale flyers because cash is so low however today I looked and saw Target is having a sale on lighted pine trees for the outdoor porch. They look so cool and they are cheap. This might be my birthday present to myself.
what's wrong with the couch you have? or goodwill? this is not meant to be a slam at you bella... or anyone else for that matter... but i really don't get what the fascination is with spending large amounts of money for brand new stuff, when you can find awesome used stuff at thrift stores, yard sales, etc. etc.
I am all about upcycling. I painted a dresser and added new knobs, have refinished cool vintage chairs and weird finds, but a couch is something I want new. The reason I would want to pick Ethan Allen over somewhere cheaper is because the couch is going to last longer, will have a good enough and classic style frame where i can reuhpolster it in the years to come, instead of replacing it. Our dishes, besides the pricey ones I got at Anthropologie and the ones Andy got before we met are all antique, etsy/ebay, estate sale, charity shop purchases. I love older things that have character and are built to last a lifetime., i also want furniture made in the USA where people aren't getting taken advantage of. Oh and what's wrong with our couch now...our dogs have marked it and it reeks like dog pee. Plus it's black so it just has fur all over it and nothing will get it off. HUGS
Agreeedddd......I don't care where its made or how nice it is, I think old things have much more character than new things that use up scarce natrual resources and cost ridiculous amounts of money.
We finally hit up the Melting Pot today. It was weird. the fondue was good, but then we ordered lobster and you cook it yourself in a fondue pot filled with oil...it was so weird. the set up was tres romantic though. very, very private. it's almost like you have your own little room
that's what fondue is. cheese, and chocolate are just small aspects of the magnificent world of fondue (I spent six months obsessed with fondue, I've probably got fifteen books on the subject, and as many fondue crocks)
we're going to wait until we move. I mean what if the dogs pee on the new ones too? Better to wait until they are older.
Do the guests of your fondue parties wear turtleneck sweaters, sit around discussing Freud and have inter marital affairs?
I love chocolate fondue! I also melted chocolate on myself. It just feels right. And on that note, goodnight my sweets.
night i got a chocolate martini and was too full for dessert so we didn't do chocolate fondue. Dave-it's just wrong the having to cook your own lobster. They were fab lobster tails and they would have been awesome steamed instead. We are totally going back, but are just going to order fondue-cheese and chocolate...no weird cooking your own stuff.
i was right! i was thinking he was from the green mountain boys, and wiki confirms it (well, as much as wiki can really confirm anything). i only remember this because we had to sing a song about him for an elementary school musical at one point.
