Eric Clapton is Boring

what brought you to this conclusion?

 

I was just reading lots of young people's posts mentioning how awesome he is and felt like being a good example..he's damned overrated...I just find it important to show the young people that not EVERYONE who plyed in the 60's was "god"


I'm surprised I don't see people writing Clapton is g_d knowing how lame the youth is these days *wink*

I listen to his music sometimes, but as far as watching a performance, there are many others I would choose to watch before Clapton. He is a little deadpan.

I'd much rather watch Hendrix, SRV, Trey Anastacio, or, hell even Roy Clark or Ricky Skaggs. Even Bruce Springsteen is more fun to watch perform.

Can't deny that Clapton IS a good guitarist, though. Just not the most exciting....

 

right, thats why I didn't say he sucked, just that he was boring, you can be a great musician technically, but boring...

 

kinda like Kenny G - sure he can play a saxophone quite well, but is he in any way at all interesting to listen to?

 

Have you ever heard Derek & The Dominos 'Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs'? That is probably one on the most exciting and talented rock albums ever made. Just listen to it.

I've heard it, and thats right, I think he;s boring...Cream is boring and well....gaudy really.......I felt like we were really getting somewhere with the last dhs post...that being technically proficient does not equal good art necessarily...but then the young ones, who strangely like classic rock more than people who were even around at the time, jump in and they can't even believe that I would be such a blasphemer because Clapton is g_d

I'd also like to add that for the most part, I find the Doors to be completely boring too

 

ok...he's boringboring boring, and I'm quite dismayed that todays youth choose such a bland g_d

if the times were actually as dynamic as they should be, the youth would choose to listen to the Doors or Led Zepplin or the dead *I would say the Stooges but thats way beyond you* from that generation, but no, not only is culture in decline... but now the youth choose to listen to g_d in a time of chaos.

Ok, I don't think that Clapton is GOD, but he is a good player, a good songwriter, and yes a very good player technically. Don't assume that the youngsters who never lived back in the day don't know shit about classic rock, because I know that I do. Being a musician myself, where I understand intonation and instrumentation, and the technicality of music, Eric Clapton is a talented to person. I'm sorry to disagree, but to say that Eric Clapton is boring is an injustice.

 

your getting me all wrong, I'm astounded at how much teens know about classic rock these days, honestly, to the point where I'm thinking "will there be anything new or interesting to come out of this current generation"
