Can a dose of DXM get you out of the way of w/d?I heard about a case where someone was addicted to a low-dose of codeine...every other day he had to take it to feel normal, otherwise his nose would start running, eyes watering and he would feel unwell and depressed...nothing to big but still nasty When he took about 120 mg or so of DXM he stopped using and did not feel anything else...it was like it all went away...just like nothing happend,no anxiety,no insomnia and no feeling down and bad Does DXM do this?only with a small addiction?or maybe he was not addicted at all?he was using for almost a year, but not daily
If I told you yes it does work, EVEN IF IT DIDNT it would still produce effects. If I told you it did not work, you wouldn't even try it, because it doesnt work. My point is that theres something called the placebo effect, so theres a good chance that ONE case isn't going to apply to a bunch of people. The best idea would be to stop with a KNOWN way of increasing your chances, not some miracle cure.
I had a friend who was addicted to herion and on the second day of his kick he drank a 4oz of max robo and 18 pills. He got to 3rd plateau levels and then sleep all the next day. Which he recounts was the best part of taking dxm for kicking was that it allowed him to sleep. ( I am told that it is very hard ). Though what I seem to all the testimonys and friends that I have talk to the majority simply dont care for the drug.
I have no idea about DXM helping mask your withdrawl symptoms. But what I do know is when trying to mask withdrawl it all depends on how big your habbit is and how long you have used for. when I first got a dope Habbit like a bag to 3 Habbit a day I would get drunk as hell and that would help me pass out and not suffer so bad. But as my habbit got bigger and I got older that did shit as the withdrawl got worse I could not even get the booze down when kicking and even if I wanted to and did it just made me feel worse. What I found helped mask the pain big time for me and alot of other Herion and opiate addcits I know is Benzo's like Xanex and Valium. But Just don't over do it with them you don't want to get Addicted to Benzo's also that would suck real bad because it's buy far a worse and harder Habbit to kick then opiates. also not as good as benzo's but barbituits like sleeping pills can help you fall a sleep. When I was kicking I could never sleep and they made it so I could get a little hear and there. I guess that is really it for helping with opiates. I tried every other drug pretty much when trying to kick and most just made me feel also worse. The worst drug though to try when you are sick is coke or crack it makes the withdrawl so much worse. Good luck man I hope you get buy the withdrwal as easy as possible. Remember though every time you get hooked the withdrawl gets worse and worse and takes longer and longer. and that really sucks a big cow Dick !!!!
DXM is an NMDA antagonist, so it makes perfect sense that it would work. I've spoken with a few people who have used it successfully for this purpose, and there is even medical literature to support their claims. Here's a useful article on the subject: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?db=pubmed&cmd=Retrieve&dopt=AbstractPlus&list_uids=15124977&query_hl=1&itool=pubmed_docsum
Below is what I am trying to get researched about DXM. I never used it when I was actively using for withdrawl but I sure noticed effects on my addiction cravings w/o having a physical dependence. Trying to get the research community to get off their asses and research this....could help a lot of good people immediately. The medical community is too slow and someone needs to connect the dots that are being put together. There is strong anecdotal evidence of the merits of this idea and it is too important to wait so this is an attempt to forge ahead. If in the end, all that is created is increased awareness of the disease of addiction, so be it. That is a success. The medical community is working on a possible treatment for general addiction and other compulsive disorders but it looks as if it will first be used for opiate dependency. After detox and a good 30-90 day treatment program, Dextromethorphan (ALSO A BADLY ABUSED DANGEROUS DRUG!!!) has been shown in some addicts, and rodents, to nearly completely eliminate addiction cravings and thoughts. This phenomenon is so pronounced that it was even noticed in a patient receiving spinal epidural injections in which his drug of choice, Dilaudid, was medically administered. Dosing was 30mg 3X/day for 3-5day saturation period then 30mg 1X/day PRN. The working hypothesis is that Dextromethorphan acts as a partial-agonist to the MU opioid receptor. I am reporting all of this because I am extremely frustrated by the slow pace of the medical community and I am tired of seeing ruined lives. The only thing less responsible than releasing this information before the full research process would be allowing people to suffer in the throes of addiction any longer than necessary. My hope is that as many people as possible study this at the same time and pursue it like it were a cure for cancer. The stuff is available OTC for $5 (which it should at least be behind the pharmacy counter, in my opinion), has been around since the 1950's and is FDA approved....I see no reason for any delay other than the stigma of addiction. Please don't do anything without talking to your Dr. and please don't mess up any sobriety with an experimental use for a drug. I simply wanted to make this information as available as possible. I have attached relevant studies below and please message me for any more information. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3430027/ - Effects of DXM on reducing methadone dosage in opium addicts http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15655510 - Dextromethorphan differentially affects opioid antinociception in rats http://www.anesthesia-analgesia.org/content/89/3/748.short - Oral Dextromethorphan Reduces Perioperative Analgesic Administration in Children Undergoing Tympanomastoid Surgery http://oto.sagepub.com/content/131/5/711.abstract - Oral Dextromethorphan Reduces Perioperative Analgesic Administration in Children Undergoing Tympanomastoid Surgery
