has anyone heard this genre before. after some basic research it is a very new genre formed in the uk in ~2000 The beats are so good and chill but upbeat and dance able at the same time. Im looking at getting a few albums by some artists, Which artists do you all suggest I look into? here are some youtube vids: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNStVlJWy88 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlEyR27fvGc&feature=related https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBW0qZnqutY&feature=related some background info is here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dubstep there is a show in boston soon that i am looking to go to if anyone else is interested PM me for information!
dude personally i hate all these subgenres. it seems like every friggen artist wants to make a subgenre just for them. i mean theres dub. then psydub, then dubstep, then downtempo, chill, psychill, whatever its all the same shiznit isnt it?? sure theres gonna be some differences but thats what makes an artist unique. anyway heres smoe other great dub artists: -hol baumann: http://youtube.com/watch?v=52QtDEaMFg0 also burial, they are more mainstream so you should be able to find their music easily. OTT : amazing, genius !!! http://youtube.com/watch?v=ewJ2zHwJkMM if you really like dub i suggest you check out one of the all time best dub cds to ever be released, it is called " hallucinogen: in dub" if you like electronic music check out this fucking cd its fucking amazing, heres a song from the cd http://youtube.com/watch?v=A4rchQSCNqM hit me up if you want some links to any of the cds cuz i own them all!!!!!!!!!!!HAHAHAH!!!
dubstep is a little too vanilla for my personal tastes....then again some are cool (like all electronic genres) but most dubstep artsits are just too basic. If you want some cool electronic stuff to listen to, check out Spoonbill (hes got some dub/dubstep incorporated into some of his tracks...very original stuff tho) or Skeetaz (filthy, glitchy, original, funky breaks)...Skeetaz is Bil Bless (SOTEG, Disciple Grin) and James Watts (Kilowatts....both are also very good)
love dubstep its real easy listnin i think its great for the afternoon after the night before when the drugs start wearin off n u get tired u can go in a slow dubstep trance i love it off saw benga and caspa b2b it was sick chek them 2 boys
its real good live like u wudnt beleive i never use to be into it much till i saw it live it has a real energy
dubstep is the best music ive ever heard and IMjustfishin it isnt a subgenre it is its own genre and has been for years. Go to www.dubstep.fm and check out some of their mixes. The thing with dubstep is that you need to listen to it in mixes not just songs. It has a completely different flow in a mix. Anyway for reall chilled flowing dubstep check out Boxcutter's album glyphic. burial is real dark ambient. both his albums are amazing. Vex'd for really hard dancefloor stuff Caspa is the typical english club stuff big bass and wobble. You wont hear a fraction of the music unless you either dj yourself or download mixes. Also try www.sub.fm and www.rinse.fm And www.dubstepforum.com has heaps of info and links to mixes. Oh and as the manticore said you gotta see it live on a big bass system to really understand the music. it isnt just sound but the feel of the bass vibrating your body.
dubstep is pretty much one of the best new genres on the rise in this new millenium together with breakcore. both breaksoriented, though breakcore is faster and has more of a punk attitude and dubstep is associated with grime and hip hop more so than with DnB. some artists you should really check out are digital mystikz, plasticianm kode 9. don't really know what artists I listen BTW, I just have some killer mixes that i got from all over the place. its good to be high too indeed, real stoner music, but also very beautiful whe sober. barefiles.com is a good place to start for mixes though. its all very european based btw. makes me proud
just to add, anybody who hasn't experienced Dubstep on a proper sound system, hasn't experienced what Dubstep is all about.
^ true that stuff i'd recommend [album wise]: benga - diary of an afro warrior burial - burial, untrue caspa & rusko - fabriclive 37 kode9 & spaceape - memories of the future loefah - jungle infiltrator thats for albums. although the best are found on dubstep mixes, yea. someone have recommendations that haven't already been listed? and dubstep goes hand and hand with a night of drum 'n bass, nothing better than both at a rave or whatnot.
http://www.barefiles.com/download.php?id=3295 This mix is pretty sick, check out the rest of barefiles as well for more dubstep mixes.

^ Nice. Also, to the list of bomb artists, I add: Kromestar - Hungry Dub [in particular is crack] Vex'd Distance Cotti & Cluekid MRK1 etc. last.fm gives amazing recommendations.
Some good mixes can be found on http://www.getdarker.com/audio/ Listening to Darkside and caspas mix will give you a feeling for the divsersity of the genre
I love dubstep! I dig the genre for about 2 years, but I'm getting more and more into it since this summer. It's getting pretty popular where I live, it plays a lot at rave parties and clubs. I love artists such as Bar 9, Nero, Ed Rush and Optical, Caspar, Kromestar, really the hard, grimey side of dubstep. I have to agree that experiencing dubstep live on a good sound system is a mind-blowing experience!
