I just don't know what to do now... I'm in a drawing class, a more advanced one, and I've never drawn in my whole life. So obviously, I completely suck at it, and everyone else in the class knows exactly what they're doing. So, out of embarassment, I've been skipping class...a lot... for example, last week I skipped all three classes (its a M,W,F class) and now I'm WAAAAAAY behind. We have three projects going apperantly, and I have yet to even finish one. I just don't know what to do, I don't know what I'm doing in the class, and now I'm too scared to go on Monday because I'm afraid of my prof getting really pissed at me about skipping all the time and being FAR behind now... What should I do??? This is seriously keeping me up at night worrying about this...
talk to the prof about your concerns...seriously. tell the prof that you feel a bit embarassed that you're not as good as teh other students. maybe he/she can help you out or get one of the students to help you out. no shame in asking for hlep
But the thing is, I've skipped so many times now...so I'm too scared to talk to the prof because who wants to help some loser who skips class...
I think that you should definitely talk to the professor about how you're feeling and why. And don't be scared! {{{Hugs}}}
don't think like that...just go to the office hours after the next class and explain the situation in private. i did exactly that when i was on academic probation with a few professors...the majority of them do care this is what my former advisor wrote in an email to me before i changed majors: "Chris, I've just reread a portion of an essay written by you 20 months ago. It speaks with clarity and enthusiasm about Mr. Lorenzen's 11th grade religion class on Moral Awareness, about your enthusiasm for it, and about your hopes and aspirations for college. I'm reading this, as you might guess, as I try to understand why Prof. Lane's letter is telling me that you weren't in English class for two-and-a-half weeks. You are correct when you write that the world has serious problems, and I suspect that you, Mr. Lorenzen and I share an optimism that thinking and caring people can do something about those problems. Two of the three of us have college degrees, and you could have one too. It would be cruel for me to write this if I had any doubt about your capacity to do well in college. I have no doubts, but there really does seem to be a problem with your getting on track. Getting the college degree puts you in a position to do something about the world for two reasons - it organizes your brain, and it gives you a credential that gains you credibility. Chris, you can do this. Talk to me if I can help. Prof Parker" i missed 2 1/2 weeks of class. guess what...i busted my ass and passed that class after talking to the professor for that class. this was sophomore year
My art teacher is a total jackass (one major reason that I love the man). He has made fun of my drawings - told me I just needed to start over, and has even laughed at some of my work. The thing is he liked it when I tried. Art isn't perfect it isn't precise. Don't let yourself be afraid that you won't measure up. I had some of the greatest artists in my classes - and you know what? We all worked together. If you are having problems that you are too afraid to ask the teacher for help - ask one of your classmates. Besides think of it this way: if everyone is really so great they don't need the class. Don't be intimidated. My first drawings look like shit - hell some of them still do. Find your own style, work your ass off and be proud.
I know how you feel... I get like that when I skip a class way too many times. Can't ya just drop it?
the drawing teachers i've had will be either incrediably nice and understand ..one was a huge pot head that passed me in one class with an 80 something even though i never handed in a single assignment....or you'll get the ass hole types that think they're all mighty...but eh talk to your teach and tell him/her your concerns...go to other classes to make up time maybe (they usually have other classes than you can attend) theres nothing you can do about what has been done, but theres plenty you can do to catch up just talk to the prof ...simple thing you're paying them to teach you so if you don't show up for class thats more your concern than theirs ... don't worry about the profs reaction and just do what you can to learn and get the most out of the class
