Today in the morning I was woken up by a terrible noise... sounded like a dragon was breathing fire in my kitchen... So logically, I picked up my guitar (gotta fight the dragon with something, ya know)... slowly creeped out of my room... looked to the left, looked to the right... and hmm... no dragon. Strange, I thought... especially because the floor was a tad flooded. Ofcourse, I logically presumed that there was a dragon hiding under my sink (source of water gently flowing out), taking a very long piss. I open my sink, with my guitar ready in the other hand to smash over the evil doer's head (or at least play it a song)... and to my great disappointment... there was no dragon... but only a busted pipe. So, today... I had to fix that goddamn pipe... wasn't too bad though... I've learned way too much about plumbing lately... and wipe the damn floors... all that after 8 hours of pure fucken physical labour at work. Man, I feel like sleeping... but I know that if I go to bed right now I will sleep for days, months, years!
Haha, try telling it in Spanish to a bunch of Mexican co-workers I think that they now think that I'm insane.
are u scared that if u sleep that widdle dragon will GEt you! EEk! Today i peed in the ocean, it was exhilarahiting...but i was scared of sharks.also caught the wave of the day on my monster boogey board and then i shot a jim beam can with a pellet gun.most best day of 2007. ps i also tell a grate story hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmhmmmmm
I know exactly what you're going through, with a low temperature of 3° Fahrenheit on Wednesday morning the bathroom faucet on the first floor froze-up on me. It's my fault through, I've been meaning to get to home depot to get some fiberglass insulation but I've been too busy Hotwater
Heh, I've been in a sitatuion almost identical to that. Ugh, that's pretty rough. Make sure to drink a lot of juice before you go to bed, if your inclined to waking up sore. I've learned a lot of plumbing lately too. Most of it by accident.
Pipe fixed, changed, broken again, changed for a new one, and now good ever since this thread was made
before there was such a thing as insulating your pipes, everyone i knew, and i grew up where we get lots of sub zero weather in the winter time, was to leave the water running, just a little bit, in whatever sink was furthest from the input to your house. moving water is a hell of a lot harder to freeze then when it's standing still. there is a reason for this that has to do with how heat is absorbed and radiated and a bunch of complicated stuff i don't have setting right in front of me about how it works. and of course sometimes it gets cold enough some places where it doesn't. at about 40 below zero ferinhight it starts not working all that well. but even if you have insulated pipes, you know insulation only contains whatever heat is already there. running water has more capacity to suck heat away, that much is true, but it also hasn't sat in one place and had as much, as rapidly sucked out of it. well i have woken up with the water that was running out of the tap into the sink turned into an icecycle! but that was in an unusualy cold place that obviously wasn't getting any or very much heat. when i used to live on top of the summit, in this company town, well anyway, the guys that had to crall under the houses to maintain the plumbing were a couple of huge human bears, i'm talking 7 footers AND over 350 lbs each! one was called "tiney". anyway they had what they called their thaw-er. which was simply a battery charger, and they'd hook that up to the pipes to unthaw them. basicly making the pipe itself a resistence heating element. obviously there are some serious risks in doing this, and it didn't always work all that quick and easy. and i'm guessing it consumed a huge amount of energy for marginal resault. but it was, just enough resault, and there really wasn't much of anything else available at the time and for the purpose. =^^= .../\...
You're absolutely right by leaving the water running (no matter how cold it gets) the pipes never freeze. but oh, it's so easy to forget Hotwater
Yes yes yes... the dragon has been slaign! ...and ahh... I've been doing way too macho for my own good lately. Helped a guy fix a car today.
i dont think its macho, i think it makes a man what he's good for...i love that guys fix things that sometimes i wouldnt have a clue how to...although one time i had to show a guy how to change a tyre...hahaha...but guys that can do all that stuff with ease are hot!
aww you shouldn't hurt dragons!! dragons a really sweet if you're nice to them..lol should've had a big steak ready to feed it so to make it a friend . And that does suck about the pipe..but great story nonetheless.
