as it says. I'm wondering these days if this is true. It certainly feels like some of my senses are sharper when I've smoked. Can anyone give me any facts that state if it is true or not...?
I guess it varys from person to person. Some people will argue that marijuana slows, speeds, or has no effect on how sharp you are.
I would say it sharpens some senses and impairs some senses. Hearing is sharpened. Touch is sharpended. Taste is definitely sharpened. Sight is sharpened, or impaired, depending on the strain/amount of weed smoked. Reaction time, I would say, is impaired. Smell is sharpened, I think.
Yeah, me too. The other day when I was high with some friends, someone threw a chocolate bar my way and my hand just zipped out and grabbed it so easily and quickly. It was pretty cool. I must have been really hungry.
I'm not sure if it sharpens hearing. Or maybe it does a lot. Everytime I'm with friends they would be talking and their words are very close to what i hair. EX: when they really said "Crossroads" but I would hear " Boss turds" or something. Maybe it's me catching their shitty accents or something...
When I said that I was thinking about how music is when you're high and how you hear so many more sounds that you never notice when you're not high. In this sense, weed definitely enhances your hearing.
^^^ true. sometimes you can even feel the music go through your body.. it's kinda hard to explain.. i think all senses get sharper when you smoke, but as you focus on some you forget about the others
That's true. Especially when you get into a certain zone, like listening to music. You just zone out and nothing else gets through to you except the music. This also happens with food and TV shows/movies.
I know what you mean, and I am sure all of the other stoners do to. The music almost feels 3D. You can feel the different chords and basslines and tones and everything.
For me I can't hear anything when I'm blazed. One time I was listening to some music playing ps2 and the music completely went away. I couldnt hear it at all. I couldnt hear anything. It was crazy. Also I can't smell ANYTHING when I'm high. You could put ammonia under my nose and I wouldn't react.
I find that I can't think straight when I smoke it and it stays like that in the weeks following. But I find that I'm strangely able to think quicker and do all these mental math calculations in my head much faster... so those two aspects contradict each other.
I can think about soo many more things when im high. i usually have three things in my head, 1. Main though 2. music, even when im just lying in bed relaxing i can just think of songs and remember them perfectly and 3. Smaller thoughs eg. a place where i can picture myself. tis cool, apart from when i want to sleep
In my opinion it doesn't sharpens your physical senses at all. It just seems to, because your mind is influenced by it. That also causes the more intense feeling when you're listening to music for example.
That's what I was affraid of as well. It certainly feels as if I can feel and hear things better, but at some point, I started wondering if it wasn't all in my head...? But on the other hand, I know what you mean when you say that when you listen to music, you hear it a lot more intense, and you hear instruments that you never heard in a sober state. This somehow makes me believe it does enhance hearing, but I can't really find any of those - similar, almost proof - examples for any of the other senses... Are those improvements than just ficticious, or can anyone give me an experience that indicates that there's almost no doubt about weed sharpening the senses (apart from hearing ofourse)...?
if you want to think it impairs you go ahead. but really its not as simple as senses being sharpened or blunt. i mean what the hell does that mean anyway? what is a sharp sense? what is a fast reaction time? is a sharp sense one that picks up more details? one that picks up relevant details? one that picks up the most memorable details? is a fast reaction time the speed it takes to make an action? is it the speed of reactive thoughts? is it the speed of the most appropriate reactive thoughts? the most comfident ones? what about attention span? what about being in the zone? all these questions and more confound the question about marijuana and sharpening the senses. at any rate, i will say that it can make you more profficient at almost anything (not to be confused with everything, nor should it be expected for a drug to simply give you better senses - you have to put in effort/attention/motivation/confidence/etc) as well as letting you able to detect many things you wouldnt normally detect, though when in this state, youd prolly not detect things that you normally would detect. as for music, it a bit more complex, but it has to do with your awareness. when sober, your awareness is mediated by the effect of the music. but when stoned, your awareness can be placed on whatever instrument catches your attention, and the effect of the music runs independantly, for each instrument almost, so evey part of the music affects you as opposed to the general song. but get this, listening to music is not teh same as the sense of hearing. you cant compare it to catching a lighter. in almost any way. and you cant really compare either of those to speed of arithmatic, for example. but these are all forms of sense/reaction.
for me at least, it sharpens all of my senses greatly. i have amazing vision/hearing/feeling/smell even is amazing, and near perfect to my standards. i have bad vision and i wear glasses. and when i take the glasses off [when i'm high] its a little blurry but with glasses i see better when im high . its like my high and my percription work perfectly together. and the slowing of time sensation is you paying more attention and since your brain is processing more information when high you feel like time has slowed because more is being processed in the same amount of time. and no i dont just THINK! im seing better because that you brain cant make up things like that. its just impossible. i understand thinking that its something else but not thinking that your senses are better. thats just rediculous. =)
