Do you even give a fuck?

I turn 18 soon and I've decided that I probably won't. If someone is such a kiss ass that they make it to the top of one of the 2 king partys, then I wouldn't want to vote for them. I'm not gonna support someone with ass-breath. And the cool indepents arnt getting in anytime soon.

    What's your opinion

The selection of answer's on this poll suck so bad, it took away any interest I had in the thread.

A simple Yes and No would have done fantastic. And perhaps something insightful to get the thread bumping

There is no point in voting in Ireland, when it comes to treatys and legislation anyway. Because if the government doesn't get the result they're looking for they just make everyone vote again until they get what they want. For instance, the Nice treaty a couple of years ago, the public voted "no", So they make us vote again and they got a "yes" second time around. And then AGAIN with the Lisbon treaty a few months back, the public voted "no", and yeah, you guessed it, they made us vote again and got the "yes" second time around. And they still like to make it out that we have a choice in matters like this!! we are just slaves doing what we are told. So there is really no point in voting, not here anyway

Well I mean look at the state of the baboon we have as Taoiseach..whole government is a total fucking joke. Charles Haughy set the standard for future Taoiseachs. Since then any sense of Fianna Fáil nobleness and honesty went out the window. Ill still vote but the whole thing is still a joke. Soon what little independance we have is going to be shit on anyway...joining the € was one of the thickest decisions the country made.

Ok, I'm sorry for using the F word *gasp*

and what I was trying to express in my comment was that this country was bought and paid for a long time ago, and anyone who doesn't fit into one of popular partys' standards isn't going to be elected. To fit into the popular catagory, you have to have great skill at selling bullshit and making false promises. To vote for either side is almost always pointless, because (putting aside that your vote doesn't really matter) they are both still controlled by the little party that sends them forward, which is why they were nominated in the first place.

Actually your entire theory is proven wrong right now this second since Rand Paul just kicked the ass of the other main GOP candidate in the primary in Kentucky who was hand picked by the Republican leadership. That and the fact Arlen Specter has a 50/50 chance of losing his party nomination in the primary in Pennsylvania tonight.

Hmmm... You might have to explain a little bit how this totaly destroys my theory. You do have to consider that specter party flopped last year, which would make republicans less likely to vote for him, not to mention the democrates that may have come to dislike him over the past 40+ years he's been in office.

And I don't really know enough about Rand Paul to give a real response, except for the fact that he's still being supported by the republican party. I don't think I ever said the the election results are planned in advance. The republicans who picked him may not have had him as their first choice, but I'm guessing no one is hanging themselves because of their ruined plans.

party politics are stupid. if a candidate came up that i wanted to vote for as a person who thinks for themselves, then i would.
i love ron paul, i just disagree his views on roe v wade and the start of life. i think its wrong to place more value on a human cell than a plant or animal cell, even if it could potentially be a fully fledged human. life is continuous, and it is arrogant and naive to place all human life above all life that gives us sustenance.

The point is this "establishment" you talk about only exists because people complain about it then don't go and vote. Rand Paul was not supported by the Republican party establishment already elected in Kentucky, they began to court him when it became obvious he was going to win. Specter despite changing parties 10 months ago was basically guaranteed to win the party nomination and had the backing of near all establishment Dems, including Obama. Governor Crist in Florida is being forced to run for the senate seat as an independent now when it became clear he wouldn't win the primary. Robert Bennent was the first to go last month in Utah after 18 years when he lost miserably at the party convention. Even McCain is having to put up a fight for his primary. This is unprecedented. It's not just the teabaggers either, Specter lost because he wasn't seen as left enough for the Dems and senator Blanche Lambert in Arkansas tonight is fighting for her nomination again from the more left lt. governor Bill Halter.

So yea, voting does actually work.
