yup. stupid, right? i don't think the pit bulls should be banned, i think the the breeders and the dogfighters should be banned.

edit: correction: i think the non-conscientious breeders should be banned. you know, the puppy millers and those jerk offs who don't know jack about proper animal breeding and care should be banned.

 

we had a neighbor who would "breed" pits, when i was young. my mom, being a farm girl, had all kinds of problems with this guy. not only would he breed his bitch too often, before she could really raise her pups and give them some discipline and pack mentality, he would sell the pups before they were old enough to go. they went before they were secure, trained my mama, and old enough to accept new surroundings. the pups ended up being the bane of navy housing. they were evil. not only that, but they were inbred. he got caught breeding the mother with the and the daughters with the fathers. they were getting so popular that he was just trying tget some cash. but NOTHING was worse than when he started breeding siblings. that's the problem with the current crop of pits. they're inbred. they're raise to be vicious, and they're just penile extensions to thugs everywhere. it's stupid. a perfectly lovely breed (my granma's favorite, next to yorkies) gone to pot for MONEY.

it's always MONEY. find a breeder who LOVES the breed. they'll make sure they're doing right by the animals. it may cost a lot more, but having a dog that fits your personal and familial temperament is worth the investment.
