I was looking at stereos on the internet (mine is taking a dive so i need to buy a new one) and i have been having some trouble finding one that plays CDs (most are only IPOD dockable).... I actually was looking for a boombox but again the one i found is for ipods only so i thought it would be easier to find a regular CD player... But that got me thinking, "do people buy CDs anymore, is that why they're making less stereos with CD players?" i have a lot of CDs and will continue to do so... MP3s are nice but I need a CD, the liner notes, the case, the artwork, I need something corporeal, to feel it in my hands... You dig?
I no longer buy cd's. I have over 2000 in my possesion, but nowadays I just copy what I want from the internet. My computer is now the most integral part of my surround sound stereo system. My 2000+ cd's are loaded into it, as is all my other music I have recorded from the net. I have a stand alone cd player(stereo component) but havent used it in more than 2 years. So I cant answer the poll, as I dont buy anything. I use Freecorder and I can copy albums off the net for free.
I have a few albums on tape and vinyl but about 99% of my music is on CD, I would never buy an album on MP3.
Same here. Haha, I really don't see why I would pay for an mp3. I only buy vinyl every once in awhile. You get more worth for your money in my opinion. If I pay for an album I'd like to get the best version of both sound and artwork.
I used to think that CDs were better due to sound quality. But then I read in Rolling Stone last year that record labels are putting out CDs with highly compressed sound so they sound good in non-optimal environments, like mobile players. At that point, I decided that the only CDs I would buy are old ones, made before the sound quality went to shit. So now, 90% of the music I get is 256bps AAC files from iTunes Music Store. I never steal music.
I buy hundreds of dollars worth of cds every year. If I cant find it on cd, I use the artists website or amazon.com to buy the mp3 album. I also buy like 1 or 2 vinyls a year.
I download most of my music free. I don't buy CD's, but if I actually want the album, I buy the vinyl if they have it. I hate CD's and am not too fond of MP3 but have them for convenience. I'll take some vinyl and a tape reel over digital any day.
I would buy cd's but I have so many that they are all over the place so if its an album that i'm unsure about liking then I will just download. Anyway sears or costco or best buy should still sell cd players!
ive been off cds for about 8 months. i used to buy a lot, have around 800 cds, since i only had dial-up, it was too hard for me to download music, but now thanks to high speed, im saving a ton of money and getting a ton of music.
I have an old boombox from my grandpa that has a tape player but you can hook a cd player/mp3 player/record player up to it. I love that thing. You should be able to find one. There must still be a demand for stereos that play cds, since most of us still own lots of cds. I download some music and my friends and I burn each other cds but I do still buy cds and records.
I bought 16 cds today for a buck....a Canadian buck...thats like 84 cents American bought them at the dump...some were still in the tight wrappers:hat:
