I say tomahtoes you may say tomaytoes This is a very important subject - the English language is at stake with a portion of side salad and tomahtoes
Haha I say 'Taters... in relation to potatoes... but thats only when im trying to be a bogan (i guessclose to a red neck in american terms)
Perhaps a bogan is closer to a hillbilly? Two very different things. Webster's dictionary defines them as: hill·bil·ly n. Informal pl. hill·bil·lies 1. A person from the back woods or other remote area. Is often partial to moonshine and banjos. Almost always lives in a shack with a rocking chair on the front porch. Likes to whittle. red·neck n. Informal pl. red-necks 1. A person who lives in a semi-well kept house in a semi-remote area. Usually no further than two miles from the nearest place to buy ammo and chewing tabacco. Has a collection of guns and has a fondness for killing things smaller than him. Has at least several hunting dogs for this purpose. Usually drives a very well-kept pickup truck. I have respect for hillbillies. Rednecks are some of the lowest of the low. Neither of these archetypes are to be confused with Trailer Trash.
Ok Bogans are a mix between red necks and trailer trash.... I live in Sydney (a city for those of you that dont know) and the bogans around here are definately out of this world trailer trash red neck no job bogans.... But now im being judgemental... i shouldnt do that... but i really dont like bogans...
Americans usually say tomaytoes and Brits say tomahtoes no one says potahtoes cus its silly We would just laugh at each other nothing would get done in the world as we would be too busy getting each other to say the word so that we could roll around laughing perhaps we could form an elite group in the forum called "The tomato heads" ? where each of our posts has to end in the word "tomato"
I'm sure I've heard Irish and Scottish folk calling potatoes potahtoes.. Probably thinking of all those Christopher Columbus movies, when he dumps his gifts on the table and says "Here Queenie, I got you some tomahtoes and potahtoes!"
who gives a flyin fuck how people say it ...........pass the sauce harry laughin at meself not waitin for you lot ........anyone fancy a scon or should that be scone
Nobody actually says "tomahtoes". They made that up for the song. Only fictional/British people say "tomahtoes".
It's tomaytoes. I've never heard anyone actually say tomahtoes, unless they are just trying to sound stupid.
