Do you like being called a pothead

I dont like being called a pothead. Alot of people seem to likeit though, like its a status symbol. was wondering what you all thought

 

Why does it bother you?

 

it doesent bother me, as long as its not someone who I dont know saying it, or some narc or kid in my class I dont want to know.

Pothead sounds derogatory. I like being called a stoner, though. It's really a one word description haha

 

If I am a pothead.. then yea I don't care. If I do something potheadish.. like repeat a story twice to someone in the same hour.. then yea I'll call myself one.

 

i dont like it, it seems like it just gives me the stereotype of a brainless hippy.

 

Pothead has negative connotations. If you drink a Corona every once in a while, do you want to be called an alcoholic? I'd assume not. So, no, I don't like being called a pothead. Pothead suggests that I smoke constantly. It is also so synonymous now with those annoying high school smokers who smoke because it's cool, and give an argument for Marijuana legislation like "I smoke it, and it never harmed me, therefore it should be legalized". Those people give Marijuana and it's legitimate, intellectual users a bad name. Those people make me sick.

i think the term pothead is something parents use to try and insult stoners
a person who smokes crack every now and then who isnt addicted to it is ok but you know those pale ass shaky suck dick for a little bit people who are considered crackheads
i consider ppl who call me a pothead saying that im an addict who would kill someone for a dime bag

Actually, though, I find stoner to be just as bad. It reminds me of a character like Spicolli. What's wrong with just calling a Marijuana user a pot smoker or something to that effect? Why must people insist on saying "pothead" or "stoner"? If you are a pothead or stoner (I use them interchangeably), by those titles I mean you smoke all day and are pretty much never sober, then sure, those are fine titles, I think. I smoke about twice a day, sometimes less to not at all. I don't believe I should be called a "stoner".

like today some dumb, ugly bitch assumed that since i smoke ganja i also huff paint and will do anything for a high, because i'm a "pothead."

I don't mind being called a pothead as long as it's not derogitory. But, since I used to be one, I didn't really mind. Although, I do enjoy being called a reefer addict. I just think it's a funny name.

but dude before, how can you say your not a stoenr if you smoke an avereage of twice a day. that sorta puts u in the regular smokers cagetory....

 

Well, like I said, I consider a stoner someone who is never or hardly ever sober. That's not me.

I only mind if some random person calls me a pothead. But like, if I do something dumb and a friend goes "just like a fuckin pothead, messin shit up" thats cool cuz hes a friend and kidding around. But from those anti-marijuana types or strangers, yeah, it'd be annoying, because it's meant to be derogatory. I guess it works the way black people use the n-word. It's ok if they say it amongst themselves, but anyone else who says it is dead meat.

That said, I don't really smoke enough to be considered a pothead, since its a rare day that i smoke more than once a week.

 

Well, I consider a stoner and a burn-out to be synonymous, and interchageable. This is mainly a semantics debate, which is essentially why no one will ever win it. You think a stoner is a completely different thing than what I think it is, apparently. It would just be easier, I guess, to let people call me a stoner, and accept that as a fine description of anyone who smokes Marijuana in any manifestation at all, but I'm too much of a tight-ass for that. I feel like it's an insult, honestly. I feel like saying I'm a stoner is saying I'm a burn-out is saying I'm a pothead.

 

Among fellow stoners, I don't mind being called a pothead, stoner, toker, or what-have-you.

From random people who don't smoke, I do tend to mind, even if they are my friends. Since they haven't smoked, and they call me such names, it only shows to me that they are good at stereotyping, and have no real idea what smoking marijuana is all about.

I only like being "labeled" by people who actually fit into the same category, just as I wouldn't mind being called a punk by a person who considers themself a punk, but if someone who doesn't consider themselves to be a punk calls me a punk, I usually find that to be derogatory.

 

I love being calleed a pot head cuz i am one. i smoke each day, and i have an addiction to pink floyd, so everyone at school calls me the hippy pothead.

 

i used to not like the word "pothead" at all.. but now I really don't care since i am a pothead and i have nothing to hide. it only sucks when someone says it in a derogatory way. unfortunately, a lot of people just don't understand
