I'm learning American Sign Language, and my boyfriend sometimes tries to teach me some German lol but all I can ever remember is schmetterling (butterfly), strausse (street) and raupe (caterpillar) ... rofl
I was allright in my spanish class for a semester. I thought i learned alot for only 1 semester of it. I forgot most of it now, being six years later. I can still count to 100 though.
that depends on whether youre considering just communication between humans, and not between humans and computers
Finnish is my first language, so excluding that I can speak Swedish (the other official language in Finland), English, German, and a little bit of French and Spanish.
no, just english. i did take spanish when i was in middle school, 3 years. i also took french in high school for 3 years. i can a good amount of spanish, but i can't speak it. i wish i spent more time actually learning them when i had the chance. i also think they should teach languages when kids are younger in school.
English, Spanish, Russian, Hebrew, and some Portuguese, Polish, Ukranian, Belorus, German, etc, etc, etc.
I wish I spoke so many languages, seems it would be rather enlightening... Anyway, to answer the question, currently I only speak english, but I'm attempting to learn Finnish. I used to know a good bit of Japanese, but it's been a long time, and I've since forgotten nearly all of it.
Hai, boku wa wakarimasu.. But that's about the extent of my knowledge these days. I probably even managed to write that wrong somehow.
A little German and a little French. My brain's been trying to think in French since Monday night, which isn't working out so well since I forget almost all of the grammar and a lot of the vocabulary I learned. I was in French immersion from kindergarten to grade 4, and I took German in high school
fucking american school's are so arrogent they only teach us english then when we are 12 and stupid decide to slip a little bit of another language in our brain, but it never stays because we are old and stupid. yeah im a bit angry. i used to know a bit of italian because my grandfather was from italy but when he died that went with him. On a side note one thing i like about tx is my daughter is in kindergarten and they have a spanish class so she will be lucky and will learn a second language.
Arigato gozaimasu Rubinsan. Hmm maybe after I've worked on my Suomea a bit, I'll try Nihongo again.. I still like the language, and have a couple books laying around.. I'm surprised I don't know more than one language, as much as I enjoy trying to learn them. Oh, and if anyone is interested, Unilang.org is a great resource for learning a language.
I'm fascinated with the whole Japanese culture, I plan to learn the language in college... and live for at least a year in some rural Japanese town, maybe teach English there.
I used to want to do something of that sort, a bunch of my friends have, but my priorities changed a bit, well they got a bit screwed over too because of my lack of responsibility in those days, but anyway, everyone I've known who has done something like that has thoroughly enjoyed it.
