I am writing a report on the pro's of having a home phone compared to a cell phone. Anyone prefer home phones? if so why?
I like my mobile phone, it's handy if you get stuck or in trouble when you're out but the home phone is alway's there for when i haven't got much/any cred left
let me put it this way, i can't immaging ever wanting to own one, to be able to be hassled remotely any time and place i might happen to be, by anyone who felt like doing so, and didn't even have to be there in order to. and at MY expense on top of it? ain't no way! i think people are just plain crazy for wanting the damd things. and i can't see what market there would be for them if they weren't. =^^= .../\...
I hardly ever use mine. I got it for emergencies and to call my mom to ease her anxiety when I drive to school. But I HATE people that drive and talk on their phones. I've done it a couple of times but I made sure I was in the slow lane and I paid more attention to my driving than the conversation. When I'm driving and the light is green and the dumbass in front of me isn't moving because they are on their cell and have yet to notice the light is green......I have the strongest urge to get out of my car and beat the hell out of them with their own cell phone. Instead I blow the horn and give them the finger. Oh yeah I'm classy. haha
I have just a cell and not a landline.... the negatives I see of that situation are..... If I can't find my cell or it's not charged then I can't talk on the phone. I can't have hour and hour long conversations without having to hang up and charge my phone (this doesn't happen very often but when it does it is very annoying), if there is someone staying at my house without a cell and I'm away I can't call them if I need to talk to them....... I'm sure there's more but that's what I can think of right now.
I really hate cell phones. I am allergic to them. There are numerous reasons for this. If you are looking for cell phone CONS, one of them would be the radiation they emit.
It would help if people would put their cell phones on vibrate when appropriate for peace and quiet. I see 'cell-free zones' popping up in various places now, much like smoke-free zones. Cell has an advantage during electrical storms in that you won't get electrocuted by it and doesn't get knocked out by downed lines. Cordless won't electrocute you either but is still contingent on land lines. I sometimes like to watch TV shows, short comedy sketches, and music videos on my Motorala phone. .
Unfortunately, if you decide not to answer a cellphone, when the caller next gets in contact with you, he/she will probably ask you why. They will also invariably be pissed off with the fact that you were not available when they needed you, and wonder how it was possible that you could be unable to speak with them. With a landline, there's no arguement. I wasn't home, sorry.
There an advantage to having a cell phone and having it turned on all the time. That 16 year-old girl in the U.S. who was murdered a few weeks back had her cell phone on. The police were able to locate her area roughly by using the time delay of the pings between her cell phone and various towers when people were trying to call her, somewhat similar to how GPS works. In a situation like that, and if you're still alive but unable to answer, it can save your life. .
So was the death rate from random attacks/rapes higher prior to the invention of cellphones. I don't think so.
Well one thing is for sure it has changed society. Its nice to be able to contact people at anytime now for whatever reason. Though that reason also annoys the shit out of me. The new rings are very fucking annoying ass sounds i cant stand. Out of no where here comes some LALALALALLALAL DEDADEDA LALALALALALLALAL. AHHHHHH put that shit on vibrate. Then it goes off in the middle of a class lecture and everyone looks at the person. The next day it happens, and again, and again. Turn that shit OFF!!!!! Then there is texting, which i will not bitch about.
I don't see any. I love my cellphone, especially now that I'm moving to an unknown place, it makes me feel a lot safer. And I ignore my cellphone a lot so I don't think that the whole being able to be reached and hassled all the time is a problem. My friends understand. If I'm busy, I don't answer it.
yeah the always needing a reason to not answering your phone is stupid. What dont people understand about, "I didnt answer my phone earlier cuz i didnt want to fucking talk to you!"?
I have a better chance of getting the attention of some of my friends by calling them on their cellphone compared with standing right next to them and trying to talk in person. .
I do bring my cellphone when I'm using my watercraft in case of an emergency. The only other thing I can use is a marine radio. I saw someone the other day talking on their cellphone while riding his jet ski. I thought I was seeing things at first. That's really risky. I could hear him saying, "Yeah honey. I'm out here right now riding the jet ski." He went through all that trouble of calling her up for that? .
