I've heard that there are about 480,000 sex/drug references in those Disney movies. I can't find a source for this but as soon as I do I'll post it. Dig it: 1) Alice in Wonderland was one big ass drug reference 2) In the movie Beauty and the Beast the song "Be Our Guest" is one big sex reference. 3) In the movie Aladdin when the couple are on the balcony there is a voice that says, "Take off your clothes." (You'll have to turn the volume up for that one.) 4) The movie Dumbo make a reference to PCP during the pink elephants song. (Scary as hell!!!) I'm not on drugs. It's not just in my head. Check 'em out.
I think alot of the new disney movies have changed their humor a bit for us adults to bare when we actually go to these movies.
in the little mermaid one the castle steples looked like a dick and in the lion king when simba plops into the pile of leaves it spells out sex, no kidding.
Don't get me wrong, I do think Disney has always had its innuendos (sp?). I mean come on, Alice in Wonderland???? Wtf. But, I do think that sometimes people read a little too much into things. 480,000 references? That seems a little outrageous, imo. These movies are screened by many people before they are released. I don't think Disney is going to risk a lawsuit because they wanted to put a drug reference in their movie. Children are their business, they dont want to lose that.
Theres a porn magazine in the Rescuers (atleast i think its the rescuers0 But it has since been removed
Also a note about Aladdin; when Abu takes the jewel from one of the statues in the Cave of Wonders and he's trapped on the stepping stones, he says "Holy shit!" Kind of amusing.
If you are thinking about the Rescuers, they actually fly by a topless woman standing in a window. Go to snoops.com click on disney and scroll till you read about the rescuers and click on it, it shows the pic. The site lists several rumors about many disney movies and whether their true or not.
I've read about those things in Disney movies...and other movies. I think they're called easter eggs or something like that. It's pretty funny, but I haven't actually seen any for myself.
the website snoops.com doesn't work for me...hmmmm, is that the correct address? because I am rather intrigued by this type of stuff.
I heard about those companies that "edit" the movies ...to take out the drugs, sex, violent language... but to me, that's taking someone else's work and messing with it. I think all the sex references in movies and other inuendos are all depending on everyone's own ideas of what's for kids and what's for adults. I mean, I've personaly never thought the movies themselves are for kids - they just get kids hooked up with the merchandise and catchy themes. It's like fast food, those Disney movies.
My opinions: First, there ARE "easter eggs" in disney movies. I've never seen this as a problem, certainly not some conspiracy between the artists working at Disney to corrupt young children. All in all, I think its them having some fun and leaving their "signature" in the films, and not something worth getting riled up about. I actually enjoy things like that! Second, I think disney movies are amazing. I loved them as a child, I love them when I'm sick, and I will love watching them with my children. Disney movies usually have some amazing message simply enough for a child to grasp but deep enough for an adult to reflect over. I think they do a great job, and really get good messages out to children.
I think disney movies are incredibly close to being incredible. They have so much potential and always fall short because of two reasons: having charachters for the sole purpose of comic relief (so kids will like it) and song and dance numbers. Here are some sxamples of disney humour gone wrong: Aladdin could have been very good if it werent for The genie, abu and igor (the parrot i think thats the name) The gargoyles in "Hunchback of notre dame" absolutely ruined the movie. I guess Timon and pumbaa were ok, but i mean when you think about "the lion kings" story it was pretty epic kind of like a shakespeare tragedy i dont know i just dont like it. The worst offenders are Meeko, flick and percy from "pocahontas" They ruined an incredible movie. full stop. Now on to the music, which i admit is not as bad. Some of those tunes are smashing, and really bring the movie alive, but some are just unneccesary. I think "Circle of life" and "Can you feel the love" were smashing and essential to the movie "lion king" but there was no need for "hakuna matata" "Cant wait..." and "Be prepared." as i said they are catchy as hell but the just dumb down the movie for kiddies and sell movie tickes, which i guess is more important. Most of pocahontas' music was pretty good. That movie would hav been incredible had it not been made for kiddies. grrr. im really angry now.
Alice in Wonderland ain't a big assed drug reference....it's social and poitical satire about England at the time...Lewis Carroll just hid his displeasure at his environment in a kids story...a masterpiece
Haha u really made me laugh wizard. just took a step back and re-read my post and i am fucking pathetic haha. U have 2 admit though they could be SO much better.
