i've known several (discordians). good for a few grins, but no way in anyplace i'd take it seriusly.
lived with (under the same roof, not i the same room) a hemi-semi-demi-"god(ess)" once upon a time myself

I am one and know a bit about the subculture. I'm working on a piece exploring contemporary Discordianism, working title Chasing Eris. Just spent a week in Brisbane interviewing Discordians.

I first read the Principia Discordia about 18 years ago... it took me a while, but eventually I realized it wasn't as stupid as I thought it was.

It was pretty stupid. But I liked it enough to become a Discordian anyway, or maybe I just acknowledged an unpleasant truth.

Which particular unpleasant truth did you acknowledge?

That I was already a Discordian, and just didn't know it yet.

i first heard about it from some very smart people, almost 30 years ago. when i finally read the book, i thought it was ok, fun, cute, but not nearly as smart as either of us.
