Detroit has always been the most dangerous city in America-I'd be miserable if I lived there, too!

As far as I'm concerned, the northeast is either New York or Philadelphia.

The rest is urban decay minus culture.

Well said... defines the area very well.

Detroit is so drab, so miserable... so is much of michigan for that matter...

Perhaps it makes sense that my ex would be *infatuated* with moving there, for absolutely no legitimate reason... wow did the irrationality of that get me goin... "why in the HELL would you want to move there if you had the choice to live anywhere", "because I want to".... I just screamed a little inside...

Cleveland, toledo... suck and sucker... but detroit is the center of the united states' suckage - good thing its right next to canada (insert simpsons bully "haha" here).

I live outside of Detroit, and believe me when I say that the city of Detroit sucks big time. The real reason is all the corrupt politicians that placed all their useless criminal buddies in positions of power. This has tore the city down and is bleeding it dry while chasing away all the businesses and population. The entire city is basically now a ghetto. There are areas of the city that the police are even afraid to go into because they'll be murdered. There are only a few safe places you can go, like sporting events. But that's only because they want the revenue.

Just because Detroit is bad doesn't mean the surrounding cities or the rest of Michigan is bad. The problem is that Detroit is so run down and being the largest city it's hurting the reputation of the rest of the state. Most of Michigan is actually a very nice place to live.

Yea, I've heard about Detroit and Flint for years, and I would be afraid to go near there. But there are nice areas too, like Traverse City, Mackinac and most of the upper peninsula.

My old man goes to Nemo's bar all of the time. Actually, my dad uses Nemo's address to get mail delivered there for me and such. Detroit is so sketchy, but I had a great time at the Detroit Institute of Art when I was last there.

    Oh shit I'm drunk. Wooo.

There are some areas of Detroit where the vacant lots far outnumber the remaining houses.

    Detroit rocks

I think its one of the most interesting cities, our band plays up there sometimes. A city built for 2.5 million that currently has 750,000.

I don't think I would want to live there, but there's no place better to take a driving tour

Only pussies are afraid to go there

Haven't been but wanna visit eventually.

I'm not into urban decay per se, but Detroit is more REAL than some service economy shithole like New York.

Here is a town that used to produce things, you know. And towns that no longer produce things look (and should look) like Detroit! :)

The fact that New York doesn't look like Detroit only means this economy is a fantasy bubble that won't last over 50 years when the Chinese (who invest in industry and infrastructure...I know, what???) will land the rest of the world on its ass.

    Culture?

New York and Philadelphia don't have any culture, believe me. I'm opposed to the concept anyhow.

To us everything west of Philly is the midwest, including Buffalo. It's funny to hear Pittsburghers talk as though they are from the East Coast!!! lol

My favorite eastern city is Boston. But I'd rather live somewhere warm.

P.S. Ghettos just don't scare me. Been there, done that.
