I hope someone here can help me as I have found my doctor's office to be completely incompetent.

Here is the situation, because of my insurance, my doctor writes me a perscription for 9 months (obtaining 3 packs of pills) for my birth control pills. I don't know why she only writes it for 9 months instead of a year, but that is what she does, and my old doctor did as well. So when my perscription was due to end and I had one whole pack of pills left, I called the doctors office. They said "if you are out of pills, then you need to come in for your anual." They told me this without pulling my chart. I said can I come in ASAP, because I don't like to not have pills on hand. She said that my doctor was out of town for the entire month and I could not get in until the following month. Then I would have to wait until my period was over. So, I go in a week after my period, with no pills by the way. They tell me after I get there that I can't see the doctor because my insurance only covers one exam a year. Of course I knew this, but they told me I was due for another one, so I figured I was. Anyway, the nurse said that I could either wait another month, or pay out of pocket for the exam (when I'm paying for insurance, I don't think so) so I said what do I do about pills. She said they could call in 3 more packs for me. GRRRR! So I got my pills, but I asked the nurse because I was already done my period and you are supposed to start the first Sunday after your period begins. It was a week later. She said that it would be fine to start them, just double up the first week until I get back on schedule. I did that. I am now 3 weeks into my pills. I don't go to the doctor until September. But the past few days (3 or 4) I have been having horrible horrible cramps. Really bad ones. I don't know if it is from the bc pills or not. I haven't had any spotting or breakthrough bleeding or anything else that correlates to my menstral cycle. I also had a very painful headache 2 days ago. I rarely get headaches.

I have had sex with no condom twice. I know this was not the wisest thing to do, but honestly I wasn't thinking about it at the time. I've been in a relationship so long, that I've never had to second guess my birth control. I continue to take my pills as normal now, but I don't know what the hell is going on. Mostly I'm afraid that if I am pregnant, by accident, then I shouldn't be taking these pills because they could hurt the baby. It wouldn't be the end of the world for us to have a baby, just not planned is all. Then again I'm afraid that if I go off of them it will just cause more problems and my cycle will get all screwed up.

I also thought that it could be my kidneys because I was stupid enough to try that hollywood diet drink one day last week. I read the bottle and it sounded just like a bunch of concentrated fruit juice that would make you poop or something. Needless to say I didn't lose weight on it, but I was wondering if that could have done this to me.

I have tried to call my doctor, but I cannot get through. I left a message last week to let them know that I was back taking my pills as usual, but no one bothered to call me back.

Anyway, the pain in in my lower back sort of close to the sides, that is why I can't tell if it is my ovaries or my kidneys, I've mistaken things like this before for a kidney infection, when in fact it was just cramps from my period. This feels more like cramps, but I shouldn't be having them yet because I should have a week of pills before I get cramps, then no pills, then my period.

Please help me if you can. Please don't tell me how stupid I am, I already know.

Goodness. The only advice I can give you, is that your ovaries are towards the front, so back pain is not ovaries. Sorry! I feel for you, it sounds like a horrible experience.
