where they ever even in hell to begin with? also i saw a ABC special on demons and one pastor spoke about how they enter your body through breathing....can this be supported bibically..
That is actually an interesting question. I guess I've always just thought of demons as "minions" of the devil...and although I've never really given it much thought, I would imagine that the devil, as well as certain of his followers in the "fallen angels" category would have the ability, so to say, of Making (creating) "servants". I really don't know. I do know that the devil has certain "talents", or "gifts"...what ever word you want to use. I know that Jesus cast out a number of demons from one man, made them get in a pile of pigs which then jumped over a cliff into an ocean...so demons can definitely be destroyed/vanquished. (according to the bible) And about the breathing being the (physical) way a demon would get into/enter someone, that is also an impression I have had. ALSO, for someone to become possessed, I don't think it can happen unless Jesus is NOT there, in your heart (Jesus or God - I am not going to become all persnickery). A person can open themselves up to being possessed. Some stupid jacklegs (jackasses) have actually asked for just that...history is full of them. I believe some ppl can become possessed unknowingly...according to their actions/choices. That type would most probably deny believing in anything, a common (and quite effective) tool of the devil - denial. Just because an ostrich sticks his head in the sand, does not mean a land rover is not fixing to smash his butt. Yet, that is the same basic principle that many ppl live their lives by...if they can't see it, it isn't happening.
No No, they can not "enter your body" unless you first make yourself receptive to their influence. As for where they came from they were Angels that turned against God and joined with Satan, thus making themselves demons.
They come from Louisiana, with banjo's on the knee, and they're creepy late night weirdos running televangelism ministries....

I've seen those shows or infomercials, whatever they are. Video made me lol hard, lol. "and because of these teachers, the way of truth will be slandered. In their greed they will make up clever lies to get hold of your money. But God condemned them long ago, and their destruction will not be delayed."
What the hell is a demon? I mean, my 1st graders asked me that and I was really at a lose. The bible speaks of Jesus casting the demons into swine which seems pretty straight forward. But then again, today I can't help but think demons are a actually a mental disease. When are demons real entities and when are they a problem of brain function? So confusing to me. The kids accept it, but in today's world it seems really lame and a little ignorant.
True physically manifesting demonic possession is real and very rare. I will admit that many time in the past, there were probably people with illnesses in many cultures regarded as either possessed, or powerful spiritually. The Church always takes a skeptical stance on miracles and possessions until a thorough investigation can ensue. I have said for a long time as well that falling into grave sin is like a demonic possession in a way in that you have completely given your body over to sin. Where it differs is that demonic possession can only affect your physical body, not your eternal soul. Sin does affect the soul too.
As has already been pointed out, demons are angels that have turned against God and have joined with Satan in his war against God. Demons are always real entities and do not need to possess someone to become a real entity. As for the difference between demon possession and mental defect, they are not the same thing and falls under the heading of you'll know it when you see it.
Yeppers. Can't rep you yet..... Biblically, they're the good guys, the ones who gawd punished for not practicing doublethink and pretending to not see that lucifer had a damn good point. Maybe they're gods mistakes.... accidentally given free will and morals....
When Christians debate ideas like demons, do they do so seriously? Or is it more on a hypothetical or philosophical level? I've seen a few discussions thrown around here recently concerning christianity and it just makes me think, huh. People really believe that? The underlying message of Christianity is great and all, but do Christians still really believe all the mythical junk added in?
Nope, probably the opposite. (2 Peter 2) "They have wandered off the right road and followed the footsteps of Balaam son of Beor,[f] who loved to earn money by doing wrong."
Depends, a non Christian for example can argue these things as a hypothetical or philosophical level, but I'm certain that their is true believing in those matters. As for mythical junk, sure many can see it that way but not everyone does
