through out my life i have developed about 4 irrational phobias. 3 of which i wont mention(because they are very embarrassing), but i will mention my biggest irrational phobia, which is Fireworks. since i was a little kid the simple mentioning of fireworks, firecrackers, sparklers, etc. has scared me. i never leave the house on the 4th of July, and have anxiety when going outside during the entire month of July. its very debilitating mentally.

anyway when i was at a festie this summer there where nightly armature fireworks displays. when i say armature, i mean rednecks with illegal fireworks. during the festie the only time i wasn't tripping i was sleeping. when i was tripping i felt no fear of the fireworks and even enjoyed watching them. i was amazed by the colors and the sounds that they made. every time they stopped i was excited for the next blast of color.
but in the past/not tripping this would of sent me running for the nearest shelter, being it a tent, port-a-john, anything.
I'm not sure why the acid had this effect on me and not spiral me into a bad trip.
i still have the irrational fear, just not while tripping. thats one effect i never expected from acid.

anyone ever hear anything about acid effecting irrational fears positively. or have any experience themselves? i know acid effects everyone differently so I'm curious to hear some feedback.
I'm sure that if it would be different if i where in a situation where a rational fear was in play, such as being stabbed.

yeah well im afraid of spiders

On acid or shrooms well I can lay in the grass and shit and not care about it.
I think its just the depersonalization that I dont know keep fears away from you.

Fireworks...damn a few nights ago we were smoking and chilling in the backyard of this school when all of the sudden some kid comes out of nowhere and throws a lit firework right in our circle...we all run away from the explosions...That was a crazy buzz killer and , well very dangerous. You would have had a heart attack or sometn...We got the fucker and made him piss his pants ;p

I was able to permanently remove a few irrational fears via heavy LSD use and lots of thinking. I mean once you push yourself to do something the first time its alot easier to do it again. My suggestion would be next time your in the situation get one of the drunken rednecks to let you shoot off a roman candle or light a black cat and toss it. You'll probably never be afraid of fireworks again.

Acid allows me to more clearly distinguish the significance/insignificance in certain things. I also lose fears in things such as bugs, the dark, since they're rather insignificant if you think about it. Since viewing fireworks isnt actually dangerous, (depending on how drunk the people with the fireworks are) you probably lost what one may call irrational fear.

But, then again, maybe the fireworks looked so amazing that you forgot how afraid you were.

I've not heard of any irrational fears being countered this way.

Hmm. When I was a kiddie my entire right arm was electrocuted (which caused 3rd and 2nd degree burns over my entire arm/hand) and ever since then I ALMOST have a fear of electricity. I'll have to think of some safe test to see if LSD (uh oh! I'm gonna have to take some LSD again! -- for uh testing purposes only of course) if affects me as you said. Now that I've acid a few times I am moving into a stage where I want to use the effects of it to intentionally expand my views and concepts... blah blah.
Sadly the last venture was pretty darn mild (my GF took two sugar cubes as well and did the laughing fits and should not be in public moments) and I didn't get to try and extend my artistic shiet as far as I wanted. Writing a story whilst on LSD feels fun so far, though I had to reread and rewrite to make sense of my thoughts several times.

I know what you mean on the embarrassing irrational fear front, I have one that I would'nt want to discuss with anyone either. If taking mind expandind drugs could possibly help irradicate it and see it exactly for what it is then I'm all for it. I do understand thought that it could also be made worse, so it's certainly a gamble.
