i just added mars hotel, shakedown street, and wake of the flood to my dead collection. i have to say i am quite disappointed with these albums, and they pale in comparison to the other albums i have (anthem of the sun, workingmans dead, american beauty, europe 72, and terripin station... not counting live albums and best ofs). I would have to say that the only positive to these albums was that i got the songs US Blues, Scarlet Begonias, and Shakedown Street. Other then the albums i mentioned above wat are some good albums i should get.
Wake Of The Flood is awesome, just listened to it the other day. And Mars Hotel is as solid an album as the Dead made. Shakedown is a cool album, too, but not as good as the first two mentioned. Get Built To Last and In The Dark!
How can you not like MARS HOTEL?....but if your looking for the best studio...it is deffinatly BLUES FOR ALLAH.....a trippy album, and Phil's favorite....
The worst dead album is the last studio that they did (1989) I think. If you want to checkout a good dead album you have to check out downhill from here on dvd. That is a great show(1989) I have marz hotel on the wall(vinyl record ) and the artwork. The second worst studio is the 1980 heaven.
ladies and gentelman... fillmore east 1971. this is a great album. check out dicks picks vols. 18, 20, and 6... very groovy shows. and do you not have the alnum Live/Dead? try those man... and check out archive.org, lots of groovy shows to download, and theyre rated...
