maybe fire describes the "high temperature" of the emotions felt upon meeting of the two
that is if somebody turns you on you definitely wont stay unresponsive - cold i especially find the line

"try to set the night on fire"

    very self-explanatory

john lennon said in an interview "day trippers are people who go on a day trip, right?? usually on a ferryboat or something. But it was kind of-you know, 'you're just a weekend hippie.' Get it?"

Most great songs mean absolutely nothing... check out Oasis, most of their early songs make no sense whatsoever, they're just words that go together well.

    "Subterranean Homesick Blues"... yeah... :D

Day Tripper was a drug song but I don't look at it that way cuz there's not enough 'evidence' to be considered as a drug song. Same with Light My Fire. I don't look at it as a sex or drug song. My friend and I were talking about The Doors being on the Ed Sullivan show and then getting in trouble for not changing the song, and we came to the conclusion that they didn't belong on the Ed Sullivan show anyway.....

You've gotta hear Tommy Emmanuel's version of Day Tripper... :D

  9. the ed sullivan thing did happen, it is about drugs, ed sullivan did an interview before he died, the doors were never invited back on his show, I don't know what it could be about other than drugs, maybe that is because I heard it was about drugs early and then researched the shit out of it (libraries rock)

day tripper can mean two things 1) someone who sleeps around, as in someone who goes there for one day and comes back kinda thing, or 2) someone who gets wasted (has trips) every day

"And our love become a funeral pyre" i dunno hmmm... maybe since funeral pyre's are rather large and hot, if your love was large and hot well it would probly have something sexual going on... but i guess it would be kinda hard to figure out if you talked like this:
    BTW nice sig soulrebel...zappa rocks
