So i have been looking for an apartment for just a month, i sent out like 20 emails on craigslist for apartments less than 1000 dollars. About 20 min later I got an email, and she asked me for a little info about myself, and what i was looking for. Then i sent her an email saying i am 18 and almost 19 when i was talking about who i am. Sure enough, i did not get an email back, I sent another email saying "If you are worried that i am only 18, then i can get my dad to cosign for the room, either way please reply one way or the other." Still no reply one day later. Fukn dyke, doesn't trust / even give due respect to an "18" year old. Now not only is it a challenge to get an apartment for only a month, but to add to that challenge my age isn't respected enough
so did you learn your lesson? you should have lied.... gone to meet her in person... and showed her the cash. no one argues with cash.
^^ Like i said, i sent email to like 20 different people and I got a reply back from one of them saying that 1 month WOULD work, and then asked me to tell about myself that is when i diddn't get a reply so yeah I knew getting only a month would be hard but being 18 makes it way harder. mmg lol i did consider that, but i would hate to drive all the way to reno and find out i can't get a place because i'm a liar. Seems too risky.
I deal with a site similar to craigslist and it's hit and miss whether an email gets in my inbox or spambox...maybe she didnt get the second reply and doesnt check her spambox I would try a few more messages before assuming she is ignoring you on purpose.
Yeah, but like i said i sent TWO reply messages, the third one saying that "If you are worried i am 18 then i can get my dad to cosign, but please reply either way". I guess it's possible both of the messages got sent to spam. Mabey i will try sending one more.
They might. Just call around, eventually a motel 6 or a guesthouse or something will have a deal. I had a friend who paid I believe $150 a week and at least that's easier then attempting what you are.
The next time a potential landlord asks you to tell them "something about you", remember, they're your landlord not a potential buddy. "I'd like to move in on ... and will leave on ..." "I'll be working nights and sleeping in the day. Is the place noisy?" those kind of things "about yourself" "How much is the security deposit? Where should I send it? Is a cashier's cheque OK?" is also a good way to introduce yourself to a landlord.
Ok thats good stuff to know. I told her things i do, and that i have a car, that stuff was unnecessary i don't know that that caused her to not reply tho.
Well I don't know how long it's been since you've heard from this person, but I've recently been doing a lot of apartment hunting myself. There were a few times where I had to email a certain person 3 times or more before they responded. It's annoying but I finally got a response. I'm sure these people are getting a lot of emails/ calls and lose track every once and awhile. Hopefully something works out for you
you can only rent sleeping rooms for that short time. what do you need an apartment for only a month for?
Well thats weird because if you read my op then you will see that some people do rent apartments for 1 month. I actually might be doing 2 months now though. I'm going to snowboard every day that i am there.
If your going to be vacationing, say, "I'm going to be vacationing, Here's the full amount in advance." If you're going to be working during this time, say, "I've got a short term job. Here's the deposit and my work number (in case anything comes up)."
Well I found a place, I told the lady i'm 19 (not much of a lie,) turns out shes super chill (56 year old) She is ok with smoking pot and light drinking. I am definately taking this up but there is another ad that was very tempting. It is "cool snowboarder chick looking for roomate" lol so i called her and got voice mail, hopefully she calls me back she sounds hot too. It says she wants a roommate from dec first though and i'm going to tahoe the 26th of dec. Worth a shot.
