Inspired by all the other threads, I thought I would post some webcam pics of mine. I don't htink the quality is very good, but it's the best I have. Today they are 1 week and 5 days. I wanted fatter dreads, but they went from giant to pencil thin. :S I think I'll have to put a few together once they have made a few more solid decisions. All of the underneath of my hair has come out of the backcombed dreads, but that's ok. I think there were about five there and it should start dreading on its own in a few months as the back of my hair always does. I will aim for only two if I can. In fact, it's almost like I don't have dreads in these pics. I think I may post a few more after these.
And here are three more. Geez the quality is poor. Will work on the digital camera so I can provide something with some sharpness and details.
1st questiojn is it just the poor camera quality thatmakes em look waxy? or did u use wax i think its the cam right? ok assumming theyre waxless, theyre doingfinem, a lil big area has come aopart completely but thats redreading already..as thin dreads honnestly if u kletthat area become 2 dreads youd problty regreat it as it would be waty hard to keep clean impossible to dry and could give u pain. ofcoursde the thin ones u can let congo and they will easy, but wouldnt go too thick now other areas are doing good for so young most yea are stull bsackcombed but acouple are changing to dreadiness somewhat. the area in back undreaded seems too short to dread, even by baccomb. the ones beaded seem to be thriving, concider some beads in back tioo. the unevenness of the sizes and growrth rates will help u have a more organic look so be glad so much hasnt gone according to plan..it shouldnt, yoyr hair knows how it wants to dread better then your brain doews, so work with what your hair wants to give you. thickenning dreads is as easy as forgetting to seperate em.theres jnothing u gotta do srry biuyt typoes seriusly sleep deprived today
Thank you heads_you_live and Tzee Xicu the Manifest. =) soaringeagle - I didn't use any wax.. and I didn't know what you meant until I looked at the thumbnail images of them... those are my white hairs. I'm about 25% white so that is what is giving it that look. Yes, the bottom is short and I imagine that is why the backcombing fell out so quickly. In the past when I had long hair, my underneath was always dreaded... and I used regular shampoo, but that was it. I never brushed. So dreading is definitely the natural state of the underside... I think I'll let time take care of those but will roll with it and see what happens back there. I like it better lose now than with the silly looking tiny dreads back there anyway. Am going to add a bit of wool and some more beads tonight. Bought a bunch of beads and have been testing htem on dreads... some have fallen out so I accept that my dreadies don't want that one. lol Thanks for the response.
if it falls out try a smaller bead ahh the white hairs exoplain it ..whew wqas scared cause lookeed like a ton of wax..lol my beasrds turned pretty white but my hair has only gotten the slightest touch round the temples and the dreads there are thin and funky wiyth big ol balls on the ends..its kinda fun personalty i like when dreads are a mix of all sizes thick to thin so they blend into a more natural look. some of mine are microthin though..lol literaly the thickmness of the letter l on here...and biyt 5 feet long and thats actualy 2 dreads that combined into1..lol but i love the thick ones and the thin ones and tyhe weird ones all for diffeeent reasons
Thanks again everyone! Felt great to wear them wit only a small head band kinda thing today. And due to recent events, they should be on our evening news here. =) (something to do with the city screwing over my son's school). My white hair is completely different in texture and size compared to my very fine brown hair. I am excited to see what it will look like when it's actually dreaded. soaringeagles- I like a mixture of sizes as well, but that must be one skinny dread you have!!
Just wanted to update (unfortunately not with pics) however, I am finding my first budding loopy!! I have wanted one so bad and although my dread adventure is just over three weeks old, I feel like I've been waiting forever. So if I stare at it, will it go loopy faster? Cuz that's all I can seem to do? So strange, I used to never look at my hair or have any interest in it. I suddenly feel like the most vain person in the world... always staring at my locks and dreaming of what they are going to look like... Hmm.. nerdy? lol
haha no i get the vanity thing to with them sometimes now that you have a loopy, im sure they will come out in full force. cherish them while you can, they apparently go away after a few years for the most part.
One month update... I still only have a webcam so the quality is not great, but I know I enjoy looking at everyone's pics, even if they aren't 100% quality. SO here goes.
And I was going to post a pic of the front so you could see the fuzz on the top of my head, but I'm having an ugly face day so decided to go with a pic of my kitty I just took. By the way, I have had thick framed glasses for almost a decade now and I don't think they suit me and my dreads... It's almost the two year mark when I can go get new ones, so I think I'm going to be changing my style a little more.
i want a fluffy white cat and i wanna call it Tink, i told this to my ex and he said he'd never let me, but then he dumped me so its all gooooooood.
Your cat is beautiful!! I love the white hairs too, I think they'll add a lot of personality when they mature some.
