A good basic book for meditation is "Still the Mind" by Alan Watts. The 1st quote goes: "What I am really saying is that you don't need to do anything, because if you see yourself in the correct way, your are all as much extraordinary phenomenon of nature as trees, clouds, the patterns in running water, the flickering of fire, the arrangement of the stars, and the form of a galaxy. You are all just like that, and there is nothing wrong with you at all." If you have any specific questions just ask.
I find meditation really works well for studying. I like to read through all my notes and than meditate. Here is how I do it: * get into a comfortable position * close your eyes * breath in through your nose and out through your mouth deeply, a few times * once you feel relaxed( and free of distractions), start to imagine that the roof came off the place where you are and a wonderful white, pure light is streaming in * (if you know about charkras than use them) if not....imagine yourself breathing in huge amounts of this light * Imagine the light flowing into every part of you r body ( I like to start with my head and work my way down to my fingure tips and toes) * If you find a place where you find if hard to see the light passing throgh you may have a blockage DON'T FORCE, push gently, and if you can't get fully through don't worry you may need to pay extra attention to that place, but for now skip it * Once you feel the light flowing to every part of your body and mind you can do ONE of Two things....if you are using this to study continue with my prompts or skip down to where it says "closing down" if you are not * picture a fileing cabinet comming forward in you brain and opening its drawer/s * imagine all the import information that you just studied filing itsself int o this cabinet and closing. * allow the cabinet to go back into your subconsious CLOSING DOWN .... * Imagine the white light receding and the roof coming back on the building that you are in * continue to breath and allow some light to escape if you feel to full * once the light is gone ( if using charkras you would begin to release them) do not open your eyes until you feel fully grounded ( aware of your suroundings) * when you get to class and the test begins take a bit of the light that you reserved inside your self and imagine that the cabinet come s forward and opens your information for this test * ground your self and open your eyes to your test (hopefully this isn't a speed test...otherwise it may have finished already! lol really though the more you practice the quicker and easier time you will have doing it)
A good way to start is to be comfortable, close your eyes. Listen to your breathing and let it become background noise. Then relax everypart of your body, i start at the toes and work to the head. OR you can just close your eyes and watch all the colours from your eyelids...the can sometimes form images depending on how tranced out you get. The main thing to do is experiment, each person has a different way of meditation that works for them...kinda like how people have different ways of studying.
