I know some of you are dressing up for halloween.....I wanna see pics! =] Wish I could start things off but being that Im stuck home this year with the lil one, I saw no point in putting forth the energy to make a costume...
I painted my face all catty, and it is pretty cool. I took it off already with no pics, though, I may just do it again tomorrow because it looked so good. At least it better have looked good, I paid fifty dollars for that crap. And a whole school semester of my time.
Accidentally didn't bother to celebrate it. On a side note americans seem to have a lot of "big deal" holidays around this time of year thanksgiving, then halloween, then christmas don't you get a bit over saturated?
Pypes- Extremely so. I understand that these holidays are fun for the kiddos, but I wish I could banish them all from my household. I was freaking out all yesterday night because I thought that Halloween was yesterday and that I forgot to take little brother treating.
We don't really bother with haloween it's mostly an excuse to go drinking in fancy dress, although commercial interests seem to be trying pretty hard to change it into heavy duty fare, when I was a kid trick or treating was pretty rare. Then we have guy fawkes / bonfire (bone pyre if your me and like to remind people of uncomfortable facts, on a side note there's a small city north of birmingham called lichfield) which is just having a fire and setting off some fireworks, then Christmas which is a big deal.
I've spend quite a while trying to word this, and each rambling paragraph I craft is worse than the last. So I will say... ...holidays in America=spending money. That is about it (to me).
all holidays in america have turned into "who has the biggest lawn decorations". While taking my daughter trick or treating tonight I was pretty amazed at the size of some of the inflatables in peoples yards. My daughter kept calling frankenstein...einstein. It was funny. But seriously...in this so called recession were having...people still find the time and money to buy giant inflatable einsteins, tombstones, halloween music, and Jason mannequins....eeeeek! Its pretty ridiculous. Although...it is fun for the kids. Its fun seeing all the different costumes and watching the kids get all freaked out and excited about free candy.
No one cares about Halloween here. I saw one trick or treater last night, he didn't even bother with a costume just a white T shirt and some track suit bottoms, he had a pumpkin sweet holder. I have never seen a more pathetic looking kid, he looked well confused just aimlessly strolling up and down...Not knocking on any houses.
We never celebrated halloween at home. I remember one year my sister made bats out of paper and hung them on the ceiling- they stayed there for weeks xD Last night I didn't bother dressing up. I'm not a going out sort of person anyway, and I hate loud, roudy crowds of people- makes me really uncomfortable and anxious. So to go out looking stupid really isn't an option xD But last night it was horrible. Went to one pub, it was so tiny. I think that was where all the gothy/alternative people hung out cus all the costumes were gothy and stuff. The pub was tiny. I could barely breathe. Next pub was the Antelope, and I hate this place but I needed to meet someone there... In the streets infront of the pub there were drunkards and people shouting and stuff, which I hate >< GAH I hate wycombe when it is busy XD I have a costume idea for next year though. Medusa Get some snakes and stick 'em in my dreads... Will def get pics for that if I dress up. BUt sorreh, no pics this year
This was my first ever Halloween of actually making an effort We were invited to a party with a strict costumes-only rule lol It was pretty small, only ten people so it turned out quite nice (which is more than I can say for my hangover...) Just about managed to get my dreads under a Mia Wallace wig. The pic is kinda blurry coz I took it in a rush as we were running late
