That was a shitty thing that he did but the club that he did it in allowed him to do his act the next night. I guess it is about the money.

I think they heckled him because when those Blacks first came in they said that Michael said something like "look at those blacks and Mexicans comming in here". I think that caused those Blacks to have an attitude towards him from there on.

Comics get heckled all the time...it's part of the job. I've seen them respond intelligently, and not with hatred. He is supposed to be a professional entertainer.

What’s racist is when you tolerate a certain vocabulary from a person of one skin color but take great offence in hearing the same language from a person of another skin color.

I recall watching black comedians use the “N” word just as profanely in a crowd of black people who were just eating it up and thought to myself what would happen if a white guy stood up and said that.

Yes, he may have lost his cool but he’s no more racist than anyone else, including most blacks who’ll just look at this an excuse to go off on another dramatic episode.
On top of all that, as they Hollywood saying goes, “any publicity is good publicity”. He’ll probably end up doing some prime time interview for half a mil.

A valid point...I concur that the word '******' has no place coming out of anyone's mouth, black or white, and it is a double-standard when black people use it. The word is offensive on anyone's lips.

    No excuse for that.

And theres a big difference between a black person saying the "N" word and a white guy, espically a white guy whose hostile and most likely racist. Come on.

If you believe that BS, you’re trapped!! You’re trapped in the same old rut using the same old crutch!

The evil white man, we’re all against you blacks. Yes we invented crack to keep you down too, I was at the conspiracy group meeting!!!

No, the vast majority of whites supported and gave blacks equal rights, but we’ll never get credit for any of that. Just like you’ll never hear a black person talk about slavery being part of African culture for thousands of years and far more black men own generations of black slaves than a hand full of white men ever had. I guess it’s really only an issue when a white man owns a black slave.

I believe saying the N word altogether is wrong but it is very different when a black person says it to another black person, and when a white person says it to or about a black person. In conversation among blacks the N word is used in social interaction, it's not ment to degrade anyone although I personaly don't believe in the word being used at all. When white people say the N word, not all the time, but most of the time it's used in a degrading manner which is of course going to bring up anamosity. Visit www.abolishthenword.com
I believe the word itself should stop being used in any way, but it is a very different thing when a balck person says it as opposed to a white person. I'm not saying it's right but that is the way it is. "Cosmo Kramer" used it to degrade those men and I hope his entire career is flushed. He is definatly a racist, and that's not only based on his use of the N-word, but also his other derogitroy remarks.

First of all, whites never should have had to give us equal rights....there never should have been racial supprimacy. There are blacks that don't learn everything and automaticaly become militant panthers without knowing all the history of things, but don't you dare talk about people like me that educate themselves deeper and learn about both sides and understand the past with deeper insight. I don't look at things as you should get credit for every little thing that you did as a race and niether should you. The only reason the entire subject is looked at the way it is is because black slavery happened in the united states, I could care less what went on in africa. Blacks were brought here, to this counrty, by force by white people and then enslaved after that and that's what brings up the hate and anger of blacks today because we are the decendents of those slaves. If we believed in controling ourselves as opposed to the actions of others the crap we debate about today wouldn't be an issue. As far as the crack philosophy goes, don't use it and don't sell it and you won't be feeding into the stereotype, and I don't and I hate that you refer to entire races as all the same. We are all individual people with individual views so you can't catagorise me in any box because I can promise you I won't fit anywhere.

    God I hate race wars.

Please refer to the person that you're talking to and not the race because that can offend people as well and you did offend me by your statement.........not that you care.

I'm pretty sure this clip was taken out of context. It sounded to me like he was going to go on a little tear about how a white person can't say '******' and how there are some words people still can't say, and the audience didn't really bite.

Honestly, I think this skit says more about the audience looking for racism than Cosmo.

Kramer has appologized publicly, on Jesse Jacksons radio show. Comedian Paul Mooney was also there. Mooney said that this was an awakening for him and that he will never use that word again. He also called for all black entertainers to not use the word. Maybe some good will come out of this.

I have heard several people talking about how terrible it is that Richards made those racist comments, then they state that they are surprised that he didn't get stabbed or shot. I was amazed that those people couldn't see the hipcracy in their own statement. Without even realizing it they were eluding to the idea that since the audience members were black, Richards was at risk of being stabbed or shot. That statement in itself is racist.

I think that Mooney is right on in asking that entertainers stop using that word. You cannot expect people to not use the word when they hear musicians and comedians using it. How many comedy sketches and songs do people quote that contain the word "******"? I think the use of the word shows a real lack of class, regardless of the race using it.

    Playing Devil's Advocate here.

What about African American comics who use "cracker" or "whitey" or "honkey?" I've never heard of white audiences getting upset, not to mention suing the comic. I am NOT saying that Richards was doing an excusable thing, but it IS comedy. Look at the way Richard Pryor, Redd Fox, Eddie Murphy, or even Bernie Mac treats white people in audience. Any of their audience attendents who complained would be laughed out of the theater and never have the chance to go to court. "Oh, Richard Pryor upset me when he called me a "cracker." Yeah, good luck with that.

Yeh, not to mention this Mind of Mencia guy. Only way he gets away with that is cuz he talks about ALL races.
But people, come on, we're all people.. Regardless of skin color.
This Cosmo Kramer is really in for it now, not only the Laugh Factory incident but also he has been claimed of making racist remarks to Jews back in April. But, for some unexplained reason, you won't be hearing about his anti-semitic talk as much as his racist to blacks talk.

Would I be racist if I was to make an observation that you are more likely to get shot at a Hip Hop concert than a Rock concert?

Everyone draws stereotypes, it's human nature, all races do it, and it's part of our basic survival instinct. Racism occurs when you can't see past stereotypes on a per-individual basis.
