So basically every recipe I've read for cooking oil involves cooking it at just the right temp on the stove in a pot or skillet. My question is why can't I just cook it in the oven. I would take a glass pan line it with oil, enough to cover finely ground up marijuana, put the finely ground marijuana in the pan and cook it at 300. 300 is hot enough to activate but not evaporate. Are there any flaws here because this seems soooo much easier than figuring out the level right before boiling the oil but not boiling it. Let me know please. Thank you all.

Well I decided to just go through with it as I have a nice little window where my parents will be out and no better time than now. I made a little bowl out of aluminum foil and put about 2 gs of nice weed in and covered it in ample olive oil, the more fat the better I figure. I am cooking it at 270 religiously checking it not to be boiling.

well i have lowered it down to about 250 as i saw a small bubble, not really sure if it was even close to boiling but i figured better safe than sorry. In hindsight I shouldve precooked the weed at 275 just as you would with firecrackers. I was too anxious too start and didnt think of this part.

Progressively lowered to 200, will thc even be cooked to activate at this temperature?

not sure, I always do it stovetop so I don't know the exact temp. I guess another option is cooking on an electric skillet with temp control.

Alrighty its all done and filtered out now. The end result is a dark green oil with some very fine plant matter in it. I cooked it for an hour and 50 minutes from 275 dropping to 200 over the course of the first 40 minutes then kept it at 200 for a while and over the course of the last 20 minutes slowly brought it back up to 275. Then agitated it while it was still somewhat hot continuously shaking it for 10 minutes. Some revisions I would make:
    1) Definitely should have pre cooked the weed before i combine it with the oil.
    2) Would not use aluminum foil again. Getting all the oil and plant matter out of all the tiny crevices was horribly painstaking.
    3) Would use more oil, I used about 2 grams of marijuana and have a negligible amount of oil maybe 3 or 4 table spoons.

next time i would just do it on the stove top... btw.. no need to "preheat" or Decarboxylation.. since your marijuana is already being heated up while making the butter.. Firecrackers are made in a matter of minutes.. thats why you decarb.. because your mj is probably not going to get warm enough to decarb well enough when making firecrackers

Yea i will go the stove top route next time i try. I usually like to experiment and try things differently, I have not yet tried it though so am not sure if it has ample thc or not.

Definitely something felt, most certainly above baseline just not too far above. Then again I only took a sparing dose about 5 hours ago and another sparing dose an hour ago. I actually made this oil to treat mild psoriasis that has developed on my ankle. Most moisturizers only make it worse but i read somewhere marijuana/hash/hemp oil is an excellent cure for it. I already tried some on my ankle and already it shows improvement, more than any other moisturizer has shown after repeated use.

first thing is the weed must totally dry. ....why would you go through all that trouble to eat some olive oil....you cannot get any higher after your process...and there is no way you ended up with more crystal than you started with...science tells me that you had to of lost a small amount of thc to the foil and the process....

honey slides.....heat 2grs dry powdered weed in a frying pan till you see the first wisp of smoke.....remove and add enough butter and honey for 2 pieces of toast....put back on heat until it starts to boil and steam ....remove from heat and apply to the toast

I think the main advantage to the stove top method is simply that you can constantly stir the mix which is important to get maximum weed to oil surface area. It sounds like it worked, but I would say go stove top next time and just be careful with the heat. It's not really that difficult to hit the sweet spot.
