I am thinking of converting to christianity but how do I or how should I go about that? Also is it possible for me to partially believe some of Qu'ran? I am reading the Qu'ran and the bible to see which I believe the best. If I go to a church what happens. I live in a family that never goes to church and we dont pray or talk about god as my parents wanted me to decide when I was ready if I wanted to believe in that or not. I see films and some scenes are about people who go to church quite a lot and they seem to have interesting lives. American films usually. I dont know about church though would the priest or the vicar think I was just making it up if I said I wanted to see if god exists. I mean most people just believe in god dont they and go to church. They just read the bible like we read a magazine or something. I suppose its intrestin if god talks to you all the while, I mean when you pray does god do all the talkin or do you get to say something back? Does god ever say boring stuff?
You simply in prayer tell Christ you are a sinner, and ask Him if He would forgive you for those sins. Tell Him that you want Him to be the Lord of your life, and you want to have a relationship with him. And you also might ask Jesus if He would reveal Himself to you, because you don't want to believe in Him, just because someone told you to. Jesus is a real person, and He wants a relationship with you, the Bible tells us, God sticks closer to us than a brother. When you invite Jesus into your life, Jesus Spirit will enter into you, and if you really believe in Him, you will belong to Christ from that day forward. I became a Christian when I was eleven years old, and I have had many experiences with God. Jesus Christ is a friend who will never let you down, and you are often surprised by how He works in your life. I have found from time to time that God will speak to me sometimes in a voice, yet that is rare. Yet when God has spoken to me it has never been boring. Don't depend on church leaders for your experiences with God. And it is not always easy to find the right church for you. Becoming a Christian is easy, trying to live for Christ tends to be harder. Yet I can tell you, I would not trade my 45 years as a Christian for anything. God has revealed to me who He is, and I have hope for today, and even greater hope for the future. After you give your life to Christ, find other Christians, they can really be a support for you. And most of all, read God's Word and Study it. You will find, that Jesus is truly a God of Wonder.
or... you get up early on Sunday, get dressed in your best clothes and head to church. Its a large building full of hypocrites. You sit there and get preached at for an hour. Then you get to go out for donuts and coffee as a treat for making it through without falling asleep. Things are never like they appear in the movies. Sorry Sugar.
You know, as Christian I could really get upset with that statement, but often this is the case. Thankfully, Jesus can see who has a true heart for Him, and who is there for a show. True Christians, are not always found in the church.
Every Christian church isn't really like that anymore. I understand a lot of people have had real bad times in church. Myself included. But, there's evil people and hypocrites in every form of belief. I suggest you look around for a Christian church that you feel most comfortable at. My church is very jeans and T Shirts. As far as the Qu'ran goes a lot of the Qu'ran and the Bible are quite similar with the major difference being Arabic names and the life of Muhammad of course.
cool thanks dudes ! and ladies. I will go there one day but I am going to think about it a lot first as I do not want to find I made a mistake by joining the wrong church. I went inside a big old church once when I was on my bike in a little village - real quiet and eery like a strange film there was a vicar chattin to the cleaner I think she was then they looked as though I might steal something and so I just looked at the windows and went These little chaps look like twins
I've been in Mosques, and I grew up in the Church. One thing I learnt in my travels is that you find good, bad and indifferent people in both buildings. It's easy to preach, much harder to walk the walk, like Campbell34 said. "Church" was never for me.. I disliked the whole experiance. But, that doesn't mean I don't do my best to behave with Christian ideals. I don't think you need to go to a specific building to be Christian. Portalguy: thanks for pointing out the simularities between the Bible and the Koran. So many people don't realize that! Rah: that's my son Mandred and his bestfriend Baaaaaaahb (Bob) the Sheep!
Dude, I am a professing Christian and I don't go to church regularly. The traditional definition of church is simply the body of Christ, which you are a member of if you are a faithful believer. Read your Bible (the Gospels for starters), Ask Jesus into your life through prayer, confess your sins and ask to be forgiven. That will be a good start. I'll be praying for you, brother. You're not alone.
Can we find spirit in everything? If so, is it really like shopping for clothes? Maybe at one level it is, but, is there any way to see through and realize they are all threads leading to the same Spirit?
JD4U, what are you talking about? Have you ever read the QU'RAN at all? I said they were SIMILAR. Like for instance I'd say the way you act sometimes is SIMILAR to a Nazi.
The thread may lead to the same Spirit, if those threads speak the same truth, yet on a closer look, you will often find many of them counterdicting each other. And that is why the Bible gives us this WARNING in I John 4:1, Beloved, believe not every Spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God; because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
There are many opposing views from all perspectives, Christianity is no different and in fact is a perfect example for that, however this is just scratching the surface; if one dives deeper into common underlying themes, one finds striking patterns of common ground.
Don't take it as an attack... I just get to the point. I've learned that I can never just assume anymore.
That may be true with many religions, yet the Christian faith well tell you that it is not works that save you but Christ. Other religions outside of the Christain faith well tell you you must work your way to heaven. And because these religions are all saying about the same thing that is why it is easy to blend them all to gether. The Christian faith does not allow for that kind of blending. And the Christian faith will tell you that outside of Christ there is no truth that can save you.
JD4U it was done in a style that suggested attack. I am a Christian. I am a BIBLE believing Christian. The Qu'ran though is similar to the Bible in a lot of ways. Now does that mean I don't think The Bible is the inerrant word of God?
Yeah I've been in that same situation before... Person tells me they follow and believe the Bible. Then person does everything against what the Bible says... They worship with their mouths but their hearts are far from Him. Not saying that is you...BUT that is why I don't stop at, "Yeah I believe the Bible." And you should not either.
