If they made marijuana legal. Woudl they have to relase all the people busted for large growing operations?

There's many reasons why they (the US government) want pot to remain illegal. A few for thought:

-pressure from the textile industry; hemp is a stronger, cheaper, environmentally friendly alternative to cotton
-pressure from the oil and gas industry; hemp oil can be used to fuel and lubricate motors, as well as heat homes, ect...
-pot encourages free thinking, creativity; the government wants sheep, not rebels

Just a few, feel free to add. There's also lots of reasons why it would benefit the government to legalize, but of course their heads are so far up their asses we'll be lucky if they ever start to think about that.

yup it's mostly because of the textile industry, like mellow said

pharmaceutical companies aren't so keen about the idea either...
    and perhaps the alcohol industry
and we must not forget the puritans and teetoalers, who failed to keep alcohol illegal and don't want to loose another battle for sobriety

I think if marijuana was legalized..price would go up and quality would go down..IMO

Yeah but people would still be growing and selling. The only difference is that it would be legal to do so.

I wonder if it was legalized if they would show the THC/cannabinoid content like they do with alcohol content in liquor. Proofs, and what-not. They would be selling it in packs like cigars. Imagine a fat ass blunt professionally rolled in factories, the same size as Phillies and Dutch Masters and shit. That's some nice shit to think about. The packs would be like $4.20 each. haha

    lol.

Or when you see those huge bags of pipe tobacco in walgreens, gas stations, etc just imagine a bag that big of marijuana. There for you to buy....legally. Man that'd be nice.

Pack of joints instead of cigs. 20 for 5 bucks. I'd buy it.

The problem with joints/cigs is that they would probably put filters on them the way they do with tobacco, which would suck donkey nuts. That's why I would continue to smoke blunts upon blunts upon blunts, which is what I plan on doing anyway;)

they would probably process it and manufacture a desiner pot and it would no longer be a natural high. they would fuck with it and somehow make it unhealthy and ruin it. you say other countries have it legal and dont fuck with it. but just remember. those countries arent america....

In all honestly, it's weird, but I kind of do not want it to be legalized. As long as you are cautious, the "illegalness" of ganj makes it all the better. The having to sneak out (oh, all of this usually applies to those under the age of 18, such as myself), to buy in secret, the great sensation of cheating the system, or, the "man." I love it how it is, and I think all the changes that would come with legalization would ruin it for me... just my 2 cents, though...

    ^^totally

i just think it should be decriminalized, the culture of the pot smokers would be completely upset if it was legalized.
