    Don't you ever think that all of the viruses on computers aren't made by hackers or modders, but by the companies that release anti-virus software so they can make a profit? Me and my friends thought about, post your thoughts.

    It's usualy the feeling I get while trying to uninstall any Symantec product. In fact, I think in many cases it's easier to clean a virus manually than it is to uninstall Norton "product name here" :cheers2:

    Don't use any commercial anti-virus programs; AVG is free and it kicks their asses. As to the original question, some viruses are definitely put out by hackers. Are they all? Probably not. There are a lot of different groups who could release them for a lot of different reasons.
