Computer tips to get other symbols up.

For those that don't know how to get some other symbols to come up the screen here is a handy guide. For all of these symbols hold down the Alt key and type in the four digit code using the numeric keypad (on the right of your keyboard) or it won't work.

Alt 0162 = ¢ (cent symbol)
Alt 0163 = £ (British pound)
Alt 0165 = ¥ (Japanese Yen)
Alt 0128 = € (Euro)
Alt 0186 = º (Degree)
Alt 0188 = ¼
Alt 0189 = ½
Alt 0190 = ¾
Alt 0191 = ¿
Alt 0169 = © (copyright)
Alt 0149 = •
Alt 0174 = ® (Registered)
Alt 0185 = ¹
Alt 0178 = ² (Squared eg 4² = 16)
Alt 0179 = ³ (Cubed)
Alt 0247 = ÷ (Division symbol)


Try some other combinations of numbers and see what you get...

 

And look at an ASCII chart to see the rest. Of course, it's also possible to check the character map and copy them from there.

 

Yeah, the character map will tell you how to do all of them.. Unfortunately that only works in windows. Anyone know how to add a couple letters to a keyboard?

 

Where is this character map of which you speak?

Alt+0191 = ¿
Alt+4242 = Æ

Those are the only ones I know from memory.

 

In Windows XP, just go to start>run and type charmap.
The only one I know by memory is ¥ because it's my friend's name.
