    here is the whole thing.
currently, i live in michigan and would like to move to either a florida, or california school for college. somewhere right on the beach, ocean side, and if california, preferably somewhere southern.
as for the size, i would like something bigger, but intimate and small is something i would consider as well. i want to go into something as teaching, or the arts, photography, perhaps.
I want a college that is very laid back, nice people, helpful teachers, and a generally good atmosphere.
i am not that great of a student, at all, and i really messed up junior year, i got something like a 1.5, 1.8. My ACT's wern't good either, I think I got an 18.
So, I need something that is not hard to get into, as that may be a bit of a problem for me.
    Financially it can be anything.
i also need something with a lot of stability, dorm rooms, and a college that will help you individually. I have a non verbal learning disability so I may need extra help at times.
Please, please! If anyone knows of any colleges that sound like I might be interested in, I would love to hear about them.. I am getting a bit desperate.

well im not trying to come off as a dick, but if your gpa was 1.5-1.8, i think you should probably consider community college. Unless the reason behind the low gpa was like a dealth in the family or something along those lines. Most colleges look very heavily on gpa...I dont know..

Do ya know what'cha want to major in? That should be another thing that ya need to look into. Community college is pretty good too, you could get all your basics out of the way and then transfer to a uni when you find where you want to go.

I'm doing the same thing, going to community college, and I'm going to go to A&M next year. [IMG]

Start off in any community college, work your ass off, and then go to a good school. I have lots of friends who weren't the best students and went to community colleges in Gansville, ort Lauterdale, San Francisco, and such.

There was a death in the family in January. I just screwed up a lot this year, I got heavily into drugs, and had small periods of depression-even though they only lasted days. The thing was was that I just didn't care last year, sadly. I also just found out I have ADD and a learning disability, so currently I am on medication and hope to get my grades up.
Yes, my first few report cards were around a 1.8.. I just got my last one of the year mailed to me, and it was a 2.1..not great, but an improvement.
I would love to major in teaching-english, photography, foreign language, religion-I have yet to make up my mind.
Teaching is my main goal, but lately I have been getting into foregin affairs, helping in other countries and such, and religion..so, I was thinking of something incorporating both, if I could find something that would interest me in both fields.
Oh, and I am from Plymouth, Michigan. :)

You sound exactly like me. When I was in 10th grade (a year or two before the same happened to you), there was a death in the family, and a lot of other shite, and I also was severely depressed, and got heavily into drugs and such. Also didn't care, got around a 2.5-2.8, messed up my chances at a full scholarship... but I got out of it in 11th grade, and got a 4.0 in both 11th and 12th. just get out of it, force yourself, straighten up, and such. I also have ADD, yet do not take any medications... I'd rather just smoke ciggs. :p

Ironically, I am going to study foreign languages, cultures, and literatures in college right now and also plan on becoming a teacher, or some international figuere or such.

I wish you the best :)

wow...i was in the same exact boat as you guys. Right before 9th grade, a family member died of a sudden death, and that just really put me down. I was never the best student, but i think that contributed to my really giant fall in grades. At about 10th grade, i started smoking pot, and didnt care at all about my grades further on. I just got really really lazy, and even had to retake some of my classes in high school.

By the end of my senior year, they allowed me to take a test that would let me pass no matter what my gpa was, as long as i pass my classes with a D or better, and i barley got passes with D's in a few classes. Luckily i heard that you could go to a community college, which only lasts for 2 years, and have a brand new start. Hopefully if i do very well there, i can move on to a better 4 year college.

so i strongly suggest a community college as well, plus they are really cheap.

She can't get into Humboldt, it needs a 3.0 at least, and high SATs.

the community college near humboldt university has dorms....could be a jumping off point...its called college of the redwoods and they have a "in my opinion" good disabled student services center. It's def not southern cali tho...its as north as you can get without running into oregon.

I had Duke, UVM, and Berklee on my lists...

I'd rather just get an associates degree at a community college if I do graduate early. I want to just travel until I can't take the traveling.
