As we scraped the bottom of the can for the last crumbs of coffee this morning my staff and I began to discuss our excessive and disproportionate coffee budget.

Sister Rachel pointed out that we spend at least $62 a month on coffee and this is not the upper-crust designer made-in-Seattle kind but rather the big red cans like Hills Brothers and Folgers. Amen. Brother Randall then brought up the fact that each of us rarely gets more than three hours sleep a night and suggested there might be a connection.

There is also the fact that all four of us are clearly addicted to the stuff which is of course not in step with the Word of God as stated in I Corinthians 6:19,20: "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's." Amen.

However Sister Sara pointed out that we are not Mormons and should not unnecessarily align ourselves with such an erroneous sect by ceasing to use caffeine.

So we put it to a vote and the outcome was 4 to 0 in favor of keeping the coffee budget and therefore Brother Randall is at the grocery store right now but my conscience is still nagging at me although I am having a difficult time discerning which decision was best in this matter as I have simply not had enough coffee this morning. Amen.

So I would like to ask my fellow Hipforums Christians where they fall on the coffee debate but I would also like to ask for serious responses only as there seems to be a real compulsion among Hipforumer to judge and criticize as well as mock and ridicule based of course upon the replies to my first posts.

    well i am mormon actually......
and well, i am not a good one...as i drink coffee, smoke cigs, drink alcohol and have sex outside of marriage.....
why cant christianity be about spirituality and not the division of the sects? how come all spiritual practices have to be about division?

*sips cup of coffee while waiting response*

*psst...asking for only serious responses, well um....you are setting yourself up for a bunch of criticism....you have to learn to weed them out and you also poste in the wrong forum for serious responses(though mine was) you might try religion and philosophy perhaps...
or there is actually a christian forum...its private so you have to pm to get in it....
    peace and amen to coffee

    I am not religious

but you guys drink entirely too much coffee. 62 bucks a week divided by four people is 15.50 per person per week. I dont even spend that much on smokes. yall need to really cut down, or go to something stronger.

Of course all so-called religions which do not believe what God has so clearly written in the 1611 A.D. edition of the King James version of the Holy Bible are headed straight to HELL but to a much hotter HELL than the others because they are truly churches of Satan and will sup with him on unrepentant bile in the belly of the beast at the bottom of the lowest lava pit in the SEVENTH HELL. Amen.
But there is clearly no hope for the Roman Catholics with their ungodly worship of their false WAFER-GOD or of course the Jews with whatever it is they believe as Jesus was the only true Jew and that was only for a short time until He became a Christian when he was born again by being washed in the blood of the lamb which was really Himself and not some old Jewish lamb like those who killed Jesus used to use in the Old Testament which is still part of the Bible only because the New Testament says it is. Amen.

    Thank you.

I never donate to the coffee fund.

I just sneek into the breakroom and get some coffee when no one is looking.

I agree, however coffee is not as bad as alcohol or tobacco because I certainly would not use it if it were no different than smoking or getting drunk but I must point out that if alcohol and tobacco and coffee were not legal then the Lord's people would be unable to justify using them as that would be clearly in violation of Romans 13:1-7 and in fact the addiction to coffee that both Christians and non-Christians alike have is of course clear evidence that when the government legalizes a dangerous substance it is the citizens who suffer so I look forward to the day when alcohol and tobacco are outlawed so that we can begin to work at criminalizing other harmful intoxicants such as (but not limited to) caffeine and creatine and nasal decongestants. Amen.

Sister it is not I who condemn but Christ who condemns through me. If you have concerns about "the way to make those sinners shake in their little booties" then I would only ask you three questions and they are whether you believe in HELL and if so do you believe the only way one might escape such a fate is to accept Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and if so then what more pressing message exists than the warning of such a terrible place and how to avoid it?

Your so called "friendlier approach" suddenly leaves much to be desired when backlit with the eternal fires of
    HELL. Amen.

I realize that the way to be popular in our modern culture is to restrict all mention of spirituality to the least offensive common denominator but the irony of such a popular approach will certainly not be lost on the 99% of the population which will swim with Satan in the
Lake of Fire for eternity. Amen.

I myself find it somewhat starnge that god would allow the world to wallow in depravity untill so very very recent, and i didnt think anyone used that same dogma anymore, it has been changed so many times since then. in most recent memory exodese 24 was removed "tho shalt not suffer a whitch to live " ( at least i think thats were it was but then satan has done things to my memmory, or was that god? i dunno i get so confued. so you fired up any stakes resently? have a good ole salem style bbq like the old days.
me i dont know what the truth is, but i figure if a good person cant go to heaven because he finds words written in a book at a dark time to be in questian than heaven must be a very judgmentel and sad place to be and you folks can have it

The idea that God loves everyone unconditionally is quite frankly a belief that is held only by lukewarm Christians who simply do not know their Bible.

I think the Scriptural basis of God's hatred for sinners can best be summed up by Pastor Fred Phelps of Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka Kansas:

Romans 9:13 says that God hated Esau, and Psalm 5:5 says that God hates all WORKERS of iniquity. Other examples are Proverbs 6:16-19, Psalm 11:5, and Malachi 1:3. Given these verses, how can you say God loves everyone? Can you really say "God loves everyone" when God says "I hated Esau?" Does God love the people in hell?

Or, you are thinking of "God is love." God certainly is love, toward His elect (His children). But He certainly is not love toward the reprobate (children of the devil). That's why His elect go to heaven, and the reprobate go to hell. In Romans 9:13, which says "As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated", Jacob is a representative of God's elect, while Esau is a representative of the reprobate.

God's hatred is one of His holy attributes, whereby He reveals Himself as having a fixed and immutable determination to punish the finally impenitent with eternal perdition.

Your attempts to lull me into a false sense of security are futile as the Bible clearly states that HELL is eternal and as such what you perceive to be "a fuse waiting to blow" is in reality a concerned believer who cares more for the destiny of the unsaved than to tell them to chill out. Amen.

I will have plenty of time to luxuriate in God's love once I'm in Heaven but that will clearly be a lonely place with 99 percent of the world's population in a place where it will be exceedingly difficult to "chill" so I'm afraid the preaching and the conversions will have to continue if that is all right with you. Amen.
