so much for being "movie of the year" I saw Cloverfield a few weeks back. and I was not impressed at all. I think the movie wouldve been alot better if it didnt have that blair witch run around with a camcorder and film everything while im getting killed theme to it. ok people if that really happened, I mean if it were me..... I'd um..... DROP THE FUCKING CAMERA AND HAUL ASS OUT OF THERE!!! But hey, thats just me. So in my opinion, Dont waste your money on this movie

When the movie was first released, there is a cloverfield thread and everyone was pretty much in agreement that it was a good movie, not great one (myself included) [IMG]

I thought it was a pretty cool idea (even if not exactly original), but it could've been done better.

I think you're missing the obvious, it's a movie so therefore the whole "drop the camera..." thing is pretty obvious in real life, but this is a movie... I like movies that have documentary feels to them...But everyone's tastes differ..

I haven't seen it yet, but I will, the only problem that would probably bother me would be the constant shaking of the camera thing, that might get a tad old... But I will still see it..

I watched it the other night and liked it, it was slightly frustrating and yes my husband kept saying 'if that were me I'd have dropped the fucking camera long ago!'

I think I liked it because it was a bit different, suspenseful and also because I had heard plenty of bad reviews, so I was not expecting much. The one camera angle did get annoying though.

i enjoyed it. it certainly wasnt the best movie ive ever seen, but it was really good to see the story of people just trying to survive a monster attack, instead of the typical hero trying to kill it/rescue everyone. nice change of pace, but still not phenomenal

basically if you didn't see this this flick in the theaters, you shouldn't see it

and if you did see it, and you fortunately only saw it the one time, you can never see it again

the movie was epic, purely and simply, but those rules^ apply for me to say that

what i loved about it was that it was an experience, it wasn't a film, i thought the idea that you never found out anything added to "it's an experience" and i quite enjoyed that aspect, though almost everyone i know and talked to hated that part

but as i said, you can only see it once, and it had to be in theaters (unless you have a projector/screen and a home theater audio system)

You’re right it was ok, In fact it was good but not great, which is what we should expect and even demand after shelling out our hard earned cash

    It was okay.

In my opinion a film that's filmed in an amateur style would be far better if the story was believable.

I'd say there is a place for such styling, in a creepy/psychological horror film or a disaster film, but not in the way it was used here.

The film was entirely watch able, but if i were a film director its not the way I'd do things.

I thought it was great. I hoped they kept the monsters, at least the big ones more mysterious though..That close up shot near the end wasnt necessary at all.

It was fun, not outstanding in any way, but fun. Although I thought the characters where a bit dumb at certain moments. Like in teh rat part. If I see a bunch of rats runing in the same direction, I run, because animals know when to run (although I've never been in such a situation, this is just me high imagining what I would do).

I hated it. I think J. J. Abrams should be flogged for doing that shit, unless he'd enjoy that.

People complain too much now adays, and I think that the movie was brilliant. Btw, since when is a movie a flop when it makes back nearly four times it's budget at the box office, and is widely accepted by fans?

In story...depth...and overall plot? Hardly. I'm sorry, I'm all for hearing opinions, but saying Cloverfield is better than TDK is absurd. It's like saying Predator is better than the Godfather.

Meh, I've come to terms with the fact that some idiots can watch a movie, not get it, and then determine it sucks. If you think that, stop fucking posting in the thread.
