Cliff Maynard of Pittsburgh has blazed a unique trail on the stoner art scene. The 37-year-old creates amazing mosaics using the humble medium of used roach papers from smoked joints. Amazingly, this is just something Cliff does in his spare time. He's one of Pittsburgh's finest tattoo artists at his day job. But it's his roach paper Chronic Art that has captured the imagination of folks nationwide. As a student at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, Cliff had the opportunity to take inspiration from the great mosaics of the past. "I was studying mosaics in school," Maynard remembers. "I just remember sort of making this connection in my head between the tiles and roach papers.".. a freind of mine meet this dude.. Actually my freind works in a store where they sell magazine and this guy said his art work was in high times..
That's fuckin amazing, man. It would be a shame to do so, but you could smoke his art and get high from the resin.
He could get arrested just for having them. Still though....I'm sure some crazy pothead would pay good money for those.
Those are really neat.. even more neat that he's from Pittsburgh! I would like to look up close and see all the seperate joint papers.
haha. yeah thats when I heard about it too, it was winter and freezing rain at the time, now I just remembering it. but I looked online when my dude said something about this cat that make pictures with roaches, I didnt find anything at the time.. lol.. I figured my dude was just stoned and shit ..
