yeah i saw the punisher but well ... i wasn't too keen on that either. let's see comic book movies i have liked (that i can remember): Sin City (by far top of the list for me - the rest in no particular order), X-men movies, Superman Returns (first one i really liked), Batman Begins (wasn't too into the original set of Batman movies), Blade trilogy, Constantine, V for Vendetta, & Clerks (though that ones cheating as the comic came out AFTER the movie). I saw other ones like Daredevil, Fantastic Four, the Spiderman movies. they all had good visual effects and were fun to watch the first time but i wouldn't re-watch them, and for me a movie is only good if you can re-watch it a lot without getting sick of it.
good list there. though i have to say, i really love spiderman, i've been a fan my whole life and i ADORE toby maguire. he's just so normal.
Of all the recent comic book adaptations, it's got to be X Men for me. The Spiderman films are fun, but a little too cheesy for me. The villains are also far too 2-D. With X Men there's a real sense of a cause and at times you often find yourself sympathising with the bad guys. They really stand out as characters. And I love the political element to X Men. The new Batman film is amazing and more than makes up for the mess that the franchise ended up in with Batman and Robin....
every movie she's in, you're garaunteed a spectacular shot of her fully erect nipples. i never miss 'em.
i hated the old batman movies, but thought batman begins was so wonderful. the cast alone was drool-worthy. i like the spiderman films BECAUSE they really do feel like the old school comics that i used to collect. it's true to the original wholesome style, and i thought doc oc was a very sympathetic character, mainly because you can't help but love that actor. i can't recall his name. much of the x-men series was too glossy for me, but i still loved them.
so true. i agree Batman Begins was SOOOO enticing. It was just dark and gritty and leaves you waiting expectantly for the sequel. The other Batman movies were just too comicky and not in the good sort of comic book way. I never understood why everyone seemed to go so ga-ga for them. It's so good though that the film industry has finally seen fit to make some proper comic book movies. It was also good to see that they branch out to something like Sin City which isn't just the stereotypical superhero genre.
the first time i saw it i was depressed for two days. now i can watch it and it luckily doesn't bother me as much. but i thought it was just a superb look at how comics can go to movie format and still look as gritty as intended by the original comic. oooh, and rumors have it that Johnny Depp and Antonio Banderas are going to end up in the next one. *drools*
apparently depp wanted to play the character Benecio Del Toro played in the first film but he was shooting Libertine at the same time as the shooting was going on for Sin City and thus couldn't. so *fingers crossed* he'll sign on to it this time.
