I've been struggling with my nose for about four months now... Back in December, I caught a cold, and it went away in about a week. However, the nasal congestion stayed and hasn't gone away. My nose has been stuffed up ever since. It makes it very hard to breathe, and I'm becoming quite concerned. I haven't visited a doctor yet (mostly because I don't have health insurance and the free clinic I've been contacting hasn't called me back to set up an appointment), but I am going to very soon because it's getting quite unbearable. Usually, it's just one of my nostrils that is stopped up, and throughout the day, it'll alternate between which one. Sometimes, both will be plugged up, but that only happens rarely. I've tried Breathe Right strips, which help a little bit, but usually only really opens up one nostril. I've taken Cetirizine, but I suspect I am allergic to it, as it makes me break out in red splotches all over my hands. I've taken Benadryl as well, and it has the same effect (despite the fact that I took it all the time as a child to combat my allergies (and it actually worked)). Dayquil, Nyquil, and Mucinex also have no effect either. Nasal spray works for a little bit, but then the congestion comes back... It's almost as if I can't breathe through my nose at all because the amount of air that comes through isn't enough to adequately fill my lungs and makes me feel short of breath. At night, it's the worst because breathing through my mouth all night causes me to have an itchy throat, and lead me to cough and wheeze. I just really don't even know what to do at this point since nothing I've tried is working. I was just wondering if anyone else is suffering from this or similar things, and what I can do to possibly alleviate the symptoms.
Stop eating any dairy for one thing it will make it worse- avoid all animal products if you can. That will help tremendously... :2thumbsup:
You could try Apple Cider Vinegar. 2 tbsp on ACV with 1 tbsp honey mixed into 8oz of warm water. Plus, I read that you could mix it with Ginger tea and it worked well.
two good suggestions from the other posters here, olbas oil is good too made with pure plant oils eucalyptus and clove and others i cant remember, and as the free clinic you mentioned hasn't got back to you to set up an appointment yet, why not give them another call to gee them up. hope you feel better soon.
