Well it looks like SOME christians are actually waking up and protesting the war in Iraq! And it seems they take great umbrage that their religion has been used to justify and support this illegal war.

222 Christians were arrested in a series of ongoing protests today against the Bush administration and it's handling of the Iraq War.

We can only hope that this awakening will forever split the religious right and be the start of the end of the war!

So you see, laying all that well-deserved GUILT upon Christians for their unwavering support of the war & President Bush, is starting to yield results.

Here's a story on the protests
    http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/03/17/christians.protest.ap/index.html

What REALLY amazes me, is HOW LONG IT TOOK for these hypocrites to realize that JESUS wouldn't want us KILLING PEOPLE for oil. Or killing ANYONE for that matter.

What brainwashed sheep most Christians are...

Just because the press is finally reporting something does not mean that Christians haven't been protesting this war all along! Many many Christians (myself included) have been protesting this atrocity since it began. Not all Christians feel like our war monger president does. Not that you probably really care though....

Yes, that may be, but certainly enough Christians bothered to vote him back into office in 2004, blindly following their corrupt leader, allowing him to continue his illegal war, all because they liked his stand on abortion (yeah, save babies so they can be used as cannon fodder later), his stand on things like prayer in school, etc. All stupid stuff that just encouraged him to "stay the course" cause his supporters just love him (some Christians think he's Christ returned), he talks to GOD, after all...

I honestly can't believe I can disdain someone so much as I do Bush.

Cheney is pure evil, but Bush is like a little brat who just gets his fucking way EVERYTIME and there is NOTHING anyone could do about it.

He can spout his BULLSHIT and people EAT it and LIKE it. And if they don't they have FAUX NEWS to shovel it in.

I am sick of Bush being able to violate EVERY SINGLE RIGHT we have and NOT ONE THING happens to him, yet Clinton got impeached for getting his dick sucked!?!

It's one thing to protest the war, it's quite ANOTHER THING for Christians to protest against OTHER CHRISTIANS who are supporting the war, including their clergy/evangelical leaders.

This is what needs to be done, just as "peaceful" Muslims around the world MUST PROTEST against other muslims supporting Jihad against the West.

So Christians MUST get out and protest at Churches and Christian camps, and other events when Christians come out and say "we must support our president", or whatever bushit that keeps the war going.

Instead of being silent in church, everytime a preacher gets behind the president or war, or intolerance, you good PEOPLE SHOULD SHOUT THEM DOWN! Remove such preachers cause they are preaching WAR and HATE.

If you are told what to believe and how to vote & act in politics by your clergymen, then perhaps YOU'RE IN THE WRONG church or religion! America is supposed to have complete separation of church and state. If that is NOT the case in your church, THEN MAKE IT SO!

Then I will be more impressed with these "Christian" anti-war protesters. You gotta start in your own home, school & church, rooting out the hypocrites, the warmongers AMONGST YOU before you come on the national stage saying "we've been protesting against the war all this time!"

That's bullshit if you haven't bothered to remove YOUR RELIGIOUS LEADERS who advocate war and continued blind alliegance to the criminal leading this country just because he happens to be a CHRISTIAN!

Yes they are brainwashed , kind of like you. I dare you to actually say something nice about christians for a change, why not say something nice about Mr. Bush? , it will not be possible for you.

Secondly, there are differences between religious populace and social groups. The social group does not necessarily have to consist of all the people from a religious group, with that said, saying "christians are like this, christians are like that, when you are actually referring to a social group renders your statements false and actually ridiculously misguided and disrespectful, because it stereotypes a large population and thus does not speak for the totality of 'christians'" and 2) this is how hitler usually spoke of the jews before WWII and we all know how that turned out. I am glad you are not in power.

which reminds me, maybe we should round up all these Bible-thumping, ultra-rightwing, neo-conservative "christians", beginning with your friendly neighborhood pedophile catholic priest.

I am NOT the subject of this thread, am I?

So why insult me? Would you rather I shut my mouth and be complacent like MOST Christians? Or can't I speak MY MIND here without fear of being ridiculed?

When people ATTACK others on this site PERSONALLY, they get banned because it acts as a LIMITATION on free speech, and we cannot allow that here.

Got it? I'm not gonna remind you again.

And when have I EVER mentioned "the totality of 'christians'? Never ever, so you're putting words into my mouth. I ban ppl for that too.

Yeah, I think, these neocon Christian crazies and their need for control long ago, started the seeds of all these Iraq war crap we are seeing now.

Nah, Bush is not different from any other political leader. To say he is somehow worse and then blame christians and deride christians because of this shows our own ignorance than anything else. If bush is a jerk, why blame christians for it? they did not do anything, whatever Bush is doing in Iraq, all those atrocities are his doings, blaming christians for it is not right.

Hehe, I apologize if you felt that you were insulted, that was not my intent, maybe I was not being clear in what I was trying to get across. Let me restate my point for you.

We cannot stereotype christians as such and such , saying "why are christians such hypocrites" , implies that you were talking about the totality of the christians, this is my opinion.

Also, talking about banning too is off topic Mr. Skip, if you are so attached to this action, then by all means carry out what you must, as I have to carry out what I must, go ahead ban this Jedi, :D , he has nothing to lose anyway and that is all I will say regarding this matter.

Oh I agree. I saw the movie Jesus Camp ...and though some of the military stuff freaked me a bit... I thought that a lot of the devotion was beautiful and misunderstood...

I am unpleased that Bush was re-elected...but it wasn't all the religious right...there are lots of conservatives out there (my father is a Catholic and a businessman and a republican ...eww....lol hehe). However all of Bush's and his team's actions are because they are ...well I'm going to not say the bad words I'd like to. lol. But it still upsets me and I don't like that the actions of our leaders become what the world assumes is the opinion of ALL of our people...because its just not true. This war was a mistake (when are many wars a good idea)... and I think its just time for it to be over. For everyone's sake.

Well it seems the Christian anti-war protest was a one-off event. I'm not seeing anymore. I guess most Christians LIKE WAR, and support the killing of people in far away lands for oil.

Makes sense, no? Why listen to Jesus when there's profits to be made, right?

That statement speaks volumes about the Christian forum moderator. Especially coming from a person who does not declare that he is even a Christian ; )

I mostly agree with that statement. Although I don't think it was just Bush who started this war...any people supported him. However, it can not be blamed on Christians. I know more republicans and people who voted for Bush in general that are not Christian, than I do those who are. As, for myself, my husband, and several of our friends--who are fellow war protesters, by the by--we are Christian, and we did not vote for Bush either time. In my church, there are both liberals and conservatives. Our reverands do not tell us how to vote, however some families have children in the armed forces, and so we pray for their safety.

That's BUSHIT! The Christian right voted as a block to RE-ELECT our incompetent, out-of-touch, oilman as president. They are STILL the 33% that support him.

Until ALL Christians come out and demand an end to the war, it will continue unabated.

Until ALL Christians demand the resignation of their anointed one, who talks to Jesus directly, we will still be the most hated country on earth.

These are just the facts of life. EVERY CHRISTIAN is responsible for the WAR in Iraq and BUSH/CHENEY ruining this country for your children and grand children.

And still you refuse to oppose BUSH LOUDLY and PUBLICALLY. Instead you echo the "stay the course" and "support the troops" mantra Bush has taught everyone of you to repeat whenever in doubt. Just like you repeat how Jesus loves you when you are uncertain.

It's time you all got rid of your uncertainty and demand change. NOW!
