And why do certain groups of people like gays and blacks embrace Christianity so enthusiastically when Christians have persecuted them, enslaved them or made them suffer so much in the past?
but they do?........ Maybe not all of them maybe not all of the time but enough of them do. hey even anarchist impose a little order every now and then. I think our bogle is in what you percieve to be proper christian behavior and what christians percieve to be proper christian behavior. And Christianity being a personal life changing sort of a religion many christians will arive at different points from the same questions. I guess what I'm saying is that following the teachings of Christ has nothing to do with being saved. Being saved only deals with ones faith in Christ. Jesus gave his wonderful life lessons to help people learn to live in this corrupt world with out being corrupt yourself. Christ gave us this to help us make our short lives here more bearable for one another as well as ourselves. Being saved and following the teachings of Christ do not have to go hand in hand but they usually do. The thing is to remeber they are teachings of Christ and though they can all be demonstrated immediately through the power of christ it is more common that like anything being taught by one and learned by another it takes time. So when you see a Christian not behaving as you KNOW/Think Christ would remeber they posibly haven't learned that lesson or perhaps it is a chance for you to help Christ drive that lesson home.
Apologies. This was moved from 'The Hallowed Tree' and was a post not a thread. It was in reaction to a certain brand of anti gay/etc American style of Christianity which I feel has more bearing on fascism than the teachings of Christ IMO. I am not anti christian in general...just anti bigot.
Grrrrr all this editing is messing with my head! Yes Mr Zonks post was moved and so is now completely out of context! Love Clairexxxxxx
Doesn't seem out of context to me. It was out of context where it was originally, in my opinion. The fact is, an opinion is an opinion and that was your opinion, but rather than snuff out free speech I just moved it where everyone gets a kick out of bashing Christians anyway.
Well no, he was reponding to you being judgemental... which he saw as hypocritical since you are a christian. Well thats how I read it anyway. Love Clairexxxx
Ah well there you go again.... Your strength in your faith is just awe inspiring! I just pointed out how Im not anti christian...real christian that is!
What does that have to do with anything? But to answer the question anyway, yes we have guns in the house. Edit: they aren't mine though.
Listen you posted this thread 'Are Christians Hypocrites'. Now if you take the bible so literally, specifically the New Testament, why do you have guns?
Like I said, they aren't mine. Besides, where I am at in my spritual path right now, I don't believe that there is anything wrong with owning guns. However there are many wrong ways to USE guns. Maybe as I grow as a Christian, God will teach me things to move me to get rid of guns or stock up on more, who knows. Either way, as of right now, MY interpretations of the Bible or the things I have learned haven't led me to believe that owning guns is wrong. Besides, where exactly do you get off expecting every Christian to be perfect? Christian does not equal perfect. No belief system has perfect followers. There's a line between being imperfect and being a hypocrite.
That's why it's so easy for you all too be anti gay, anti abortion, anti every other religion, pro guns, pro crusade... A distortion of Christs message entirely. Thats not the christianity I was brought up with...that's fascism!
