Christianity is a chameleon. It "updates" itself in order to keep up with the findings of science which contradicts the "old way".

Just a few decades ago, you'd have a hell of a time finding a Christian who would even acknowledge that evolution could be true, who would even give credence to a billion year earth.

Now, the apologetics machine is a full force. Both evolution and billion year old earth has been neatly compacted into the Christian dogma, although the awkward fit of the square peg in the round hole is obvious to those of us outside the circle.

A few years back, you would've found it rather difficult to find a Christian who didn't believe in the literal firepit hell, now they abound with their various "interpretations" when, in reality, the four words used in the original texts never changed their meaning once.

Christianity is the great chameleon. Now there are Christians who believe in evolution, billion year old earth, Adam & Eve was "just an allegory" (although there is an entire geneology from Adam), the earth actually does revolve around the sun instead of the other way around (as preached for centuries). The list goes on and on.

No matter what science finds that smashes the old belief, Christianity will conform and then use their apologetic propaganda machine to make it seem to the sheep that it was this way all along--just "misinterpreted".

Truth of the matter is that people like Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson aren't the only ones that give Christianity a bad name, its people like Ron Wyatt as well. It's people like Lee Strobel, Josh McDowell and even C.S. Lewis. Worse yet, it's people like the Apostle Paul.

However, the absolute worst figure in Christianity is "God", the holy murderer who changes not, created in the minds of religious, dogmatic puritans to force others through guilt and fear to live the way they (the puritans) want them to live.

even if Christians seem to change, shift, and adjust, they still share the basic principals of the gospel. God doesnt change. He is always the same. Christians are PEOPLE and if you know any PEOPLE you'd know that PEOPLE are usually quite weak and in need of help, whether they will admit it or not. They are easily influenced, weak willed and swayed one way and then another.

The great thing is that God knows this, and sees through our weakness, and works in us to lift eachother up when we are frail. We are a family. The body of Christ...each member of the body is equally important, and plays a significant role.

About the snake in the garden...the story is not bullshit, but God is interested in REAL love....not forced love. The temptation HAD to be there in order for there to be a real, heart to heart relationship with us. If there was no temptation, our relationship with GOd would be very predictable, and there would be no growth. Like i said in another post, how can there be victory without opposition?

the exact same thing could be said for the opposing side.

but actually, it's not true either way.

You are the claimant. The burden of proof is on you.

    I am the doubter.

My mind is WIDE OPEN to evidence. Trust me.

    I changed once, remember?

i cannot prove it to you. But that doesnt mean it's not true. If you doubt, and you dont want to give God an opportunity to present Himself to you (cause it wouldnt make any sense for Him to force Himself on you) then you probably will never know the truth or feel it well up inside you. If you cannot even admit that you have a heart, then how will God take residence in you? He can't.

Remember the verse "i stand at the door and knock...IF anyone OPENS the door, i will come in". You must open the door if you are SERIOUS about truth. QUIT denying your spirituality. You are not just a lump of walking flesh with no purpose. You were not born to simple live and then die. You cannot understand to believe, you have to believe to understand.

It's so convenient that your mind is ONLY open to the one thing that we cannot give you. Then you use it against us.

Yah i know you changed....but did you truly have faith in the first place? Faith in GOd means you trust Him, no matter if things go good or bad, you trust Him.
The change was probably easy for you the first time because it was self serving. Dont take that hard, we are all self serving. But becoming a Christian is the exact opposite. It takes work, discipline, self control , faith in something you cannot see or fully understand, humility, and you will actually find yourself serving others! And in turn, they are serving you.

Lib, i have a difficult time talking to you on these Boards. But i still care about you as a person and wish you nothing but the best. It may seem unfortunate NOW, but the "best" life is only found in a relationship with the one who created you in His image, and loves you deeply. And that is what i wish for you.

    Peace, man.

God only appears to those who are Open to Him, because belief in God is psychological phenomena that only exists because of ingrained Priming. You are correct for the wrong reasons.

Did any of you ever consider the possibility of it being true for some while being equally false for others? Why must there always be only one answer?

It may seem true, but that doesn't make it ACTUALLY true.

Haha nice quote, I guess you saw what I was getting at. But if in their mind it is true, then to them it might as well be.

truth is truth. Two opposite answers cannot both be right. There is true and there is False. If it's true for one of us, then it's true for all of us.

None of us deserve a second chance, yet all of us are entitled to it, if we wish to accept the gift.

Our truth says that salvation through Christ is open for ALL people. Not SOME people.

Why can't they be? The truth is what you perceive to be the truth, but you cannot say you percieve anything exactly the same as anyone else now can you? Of course not, that would be absurd, and so there must be an infinite array of not quite exactly the same, or hell, wildly differing truths, mustn't there? :D You say yourself salvation is open for all. Besides, what matters truth? Who's to say there is even any truth whatsoever to begin with? Truth is merely a human concept after all is it not?:p

reality is too complex and great for there to be only one truth..

After studying particle physics including the complexities of quantum theory and string theories and all that jazz, do you think we could go from such complexities, to one great answer ----> heaven, a magical place where everything is OK? thats silly. Reality is too complex for such an answer. We will never realize what is "out there" Any explanation we will ever come up with will not suffice.

is it not true that you should NOT kick a child in the head?

or is it true for some and not for others, only a human concept, open to interpretation?

Is it true that if you saw an old man who had fallen while crossing the street that you should help him up and help him cross the street?
or is that only true for some and not for others, also open to interpretation.

We all share some of the same truths about what is good and what is not, whether we are Christian or not. So that shows that THE truth is out there.

Of course i do not percieve anything exactly the same as someone else, we are all created unique.

The truth is above us. Above our understanding. Some people understand some parts, other people understand other parts. But no one can understand it all. But that doesnt mean that the WHOLE truth is not there. It goes to show how small we are and how much we need God and eachother.

We havnt been told alot about HEaven in the Bible, other than some of the things that will be there, and that there is no sin, no pain, no sickness, no death, no sorrow, and that we will have heavenly bodies that will not fade away. There's probably alot more to heaven than sitting around saying "shucks, isnt this just so wonderful? Wow right on, we finally made it, and now we'll be here forever, isnt that swell?"
God says that Heaven is far above ANYTHING we could EVER ask for or imagine. Sounds exciting. NONE of us can draw any conclusions as to what is in store for us there. God also said that Heaven is His throne, and the earth is his footstool. Think about all the beauty on this footstool. How can our minds even begin to imagine the throne?
