Not trying to start a war, but I would like to know why many Christians are so condemning of other religions. I am often told that I need to be saved, or that I will be ejected into hell. I don't see the logic. I never hear Hindus or Muslims telling me I am going to burn in Hell...and no Sufi, Shinto, or Buddhist ever said such a thing.....Wiccans just ask me to dance, and play, but so far, No mention of Hell from them, either. I have no problem with Christians believing as they wish, but when they tell the rest of us we are "not on Gods A list"....because we have 'another path"..I find it annoying...I never warn Christians to "wear pink on Mondays..or suffer a massive spleen malfunction".....because it is "one of the rules in my New Age religion...." of course they would just say I am following a false religion...and "probably will burn in hell" :X

I just find it hard to believe that they don't see how obvious our relationship to primates is. Anyone who doesn't believe that is blind.

Seems that Christianity and Islam are the two most judgemental religions....I guess they balance each other out, or destabilize the future of the world...something like that.

To be fair though, some Christians are more tolerant and rational than others

If God actually exists, then I would think it matters who he is. Radical concept, I know . . .

I often wondered why people worry that we may have evolved from apes. I don't care if I am related to apes, or salamanders. That which is created...evolves. From canvas to paint to painting..from sheep to wool..to tapestry..."we are created in gods image," they say, yet the bible says no man can see gods face, and live...now what's that about ? God is Spirit. The material world, being constantly in change is the inferior energy. To my way of thinking..material things can remind us of god, but since his Spirit is everywhere, we can "see" him any way we wish. He has always existed, and he created parents....reproduction, and all that....who knows why ?? That's what makes Philosophy so much fun. No one has all the answers, and it's great to admit we haven't got a clue. There is no Smite button for honesty.

Christianity is an aggressive religion. Always has been, always will be. This is why it is so widespread and accepted.

Bad things happen to you if you don't follow it...what more could a religion ask for in order to gain members and maintain it's strength in society!?

Islam spreads by a very similar meme, (the religion is spreading like wildfire right now) so you can see the success in the formula.

it does kinda bug me that christians are the least tolerant. Not necessarily outwardly so, like, not many actually tell me that I'm going to hell or following the wrong path or anything, but when you dig a bit deeper into the person you realise they either think you are condemned to hell, or that you're at least ignorant and following the 'wrong path'. It disturbs me that people can be my friends but secretly believe this crap about me..

At the same time, no offense to anyone, but christians as a group seem the most ignorant about their own religion than any other group I know. I'm not saying they are because they don't question the bible, I'm saying some don't even know what's in the bible..it's really disturbing..

With a negative view of God..(He's gonna git ya if ya don't do x y and z" Makes you want to run right out and sign up, right ? God is supposed to be pure love..threats don't work in the long haul, and I am in for the long haul, and he loves me unconditionally, and what's the alternative ? The sheeple suit is too confining...and it itches....so I will take my chances...God as long time companion, and friend, or no deal.

I personally think some religions, like Christianity and the Islam, added that stuff about 'there's only one way and you must follow that or suffer for eternity' to get more power, to get more followers, rather than out of true concern. In human life, so often when you really get down to it, it's about power... and the God(s) may not be human, but the priests, bishops, Mullah's, rabbi's etc sure are... If they say 'hey, we got this really nice religion here and we think it's the best way to live, but there's a lot of other ways that're pretty good also, just be nice to each other' they'll have far less followers (=power) than when they use the age-old stick behind the door of 'do as I say or else'. Of course not all religious leaders are that way, but I strongly believe that's how the 'jealous God' thing started, rather than that there truly is only one God.

Quite the contrary. If this life meant nothing to me, I would opt to end it.

When people do not maintain a healthy diet and exercise they ruin their health. Has that knowledge stopped the entire world from eating junk food and prompted everyone to join their local health club? No, it hasn't. Neither has religion.

When Christ walked this earth, his message was far more love based than fire and brimstone. Using a method of intimidation when it comes to the Lord (or anything else for that matter) will only bring about failure and discord.

Two points... there's a difference between 'ruining health' (which isn't even necessarily deadly; while most of us will know someone who's had a heart attack, or has had cancer, there are also people who can eat whatever they want and never get heart trouble, and people who smoke all their lives and live to be 95) and eternal damnation, and also this was thought up a long time ago when people were more inclined to do what they were told, especially those of lower classes.

And yes, I believe that Christ, whether he was truly God's son or just an inspired man, was likely genuine... but many of his followers weren't. The news is full of reports about priests who abuse their position to get at boys and stuff, the priests aren't saints or angels... they're human, with human flaws, and one of the major human flaws is the wish for power. Unfortunately intimidating people *does* work; less nowadays in the Western world because we've learned to question things, we have access to all kinds of different information than just the propaganda we're fed... however on people who're poor, who don't have access to (m)any other sources of information, who've never known democracy, intimidation works like a charm.

Just because others who are not christians are intolerant does absolutely nothing to defend christians of the charge of intolerance.

And reviewing history, you will find, for example in the conquest of south and central america, that christians did things which were as bad as anything Islam or any other religion has done. In the book or not. And if not, then they didn't even have that to hold up as a justification for their abominable actions.
