I find it funny that Christian's should act like Christ yet they shun the "fringe" of society....They have put a bubble of "christian music""christian clothes'"christian friends"...Don't get me wrong these things aren't wrong in themselves but....You can reach more being an artist that is christian then a christian artist.
thats exactly right. just one of the many reasons i question christianity. why do they have to put labels on everything. i mean christians shun gay people. but at the same time they have to love them. maybe its just me, but not welcoming someone in my home or church and shunning them away and putting them in thier own special group is not my idea of love. its my own personal joke that i am more christian than my family, but unwillingly. because just think what would happen if i was to tell my family that i am gay.(im not by the way, just to clear that up) but, they would hate me, aside from my cousin. most of them would probably never want to talk to me again. but, if someone in my family was to tell me that they were, i would love them all the same. because i love everyone no matter what. and i dont just say that i love them, i act like i do. not trying to brag, but if anyone around me needs, food clothes, etc. even if i dont know them, to this day if i have the extra financials, apart from my car insurance and cell phone bills, i will get what ever i can for that person. just like a christian is suppposed to do. and im not one.
But it's really *wrong* to shun gay people. The Bible says that we aren't supposed to practice homosexuality ourselves. Not that we're supposed to shun them or make them feel like a lesser person. BTW, some churches feel that the Bible was written from a "human survival" standpoint. Back in the day, if everyone practiced homosexuality, human beings would be pretty much done for. Humanity's survival is no longer an issue, but the idea is still linked to "strength in numbers." If we outnumber the "enemy," we're ahead of the game. It is hard to live the balanced life. Christians don't want to indulge in worldly stuff too much, but then, that old adage is true: "Don't be so heavenly minded that you're of no earthly good."
well, shit. you can't get pissy with christian artists for writing music or making art that appeals to their spirituality. they are inspired by what moves them, and in this case it's their beliefs.
Nothing in the Bible says that we as Christians should shun gay people. Also, many Christians are gay themselves. Fortunately, many Christian denominations are debating or working with this issue as we speak, including United Methodists, Episcopalians and Lutherans.
thats what i was getting at. it doesnt say that christians should shun gay people, but they do it anyway. just another example of how most of them pick and choose what they want.
*nods vigorously* Yes, preach it, sista. Tell it like it is! Even if the other denominations are correct in assuming that homosexuals are the way they are because of situations from their childhood (over the idea that homosexuality is inherited or genetic), is it fair to restrict them in such a way that they can't have loving lifelong relationships with their person of choice because of what other people have done to them? Contrary to popular belief, not everyone can be "brainwashed" back to "normal." Should we punish the victim for the crimes of the criminal? How do we know that homosexuality isn't a natural evolution to dissuade such explosive population growth that threatens to starve us all?
some of them do that. Not all of us --- Emo music. Emo clothing. Emo friends. Teen music. Teen clothing. Teen friends. Boys/Girls clothing. Boy/girl friends. Hippie music. Hippie clothing. Hippie friends. All of us do it, almost naturally.
I mean more along the lines of "oh wow he is Emo*just random example* i guess i won't witness to him" attuide.
Its not that it appeals to what they belive. Its that they only do it for the ones who belive the same, I mean they would reach many more people with hopefully a postive message if they didn't limit themselves to just christians.
i can see what you are getting at, but if you beleived in something 100% and your life was based around that standpoint, i do not doubt you would do the same, that is your life. Why dont we aim some music as Islamic extremists, is it because we can't connect to those people, even though it may do us good if we do? peace and love michaelxx
i know that, but it just seems like the spiritual leaders are sending that message. you know, "dont let them in church as long as thier living in sin" even though the fact that you go to church is to get out of sin. more like most of them do that.
why when a few muslims become terrorists, people say,"Islam is all about killing people", but when a few priests cop a feel on some little boys people DONT say, "christianity is all about pedophilia"?
Two of the three biggest churches allow them to become members of the church, and be ordained: Catholics and Methodists. I don't know where many of the other divisions stand, but you have the biggest so far
We do that stuff to show that we don't give a crap about society. Try telling someone in school you're a Christian ( I don't mind ), and you'll be # 1 gossip topic. Don't care. Most people do though
so some guy specializes in carousel horses and i tell him, "you know, this just doen't appeal to me....you should do something I like.i'm offended that you only want to do carousel horses. I HAVE NEEDS TOO, YOU KNOW." sorry, but that's just too lame for words.
jesus himself never made any homophobic statements... only paul and in leviticus are such statements and because much that paul said and much of what is read in leviticus is polar opposite to what jesus preached, such statements in the bible can be disregarded as being christian
i imagine you wouldn't. i rember running in fear from several christians, but other's were okay. there's something in the eyes of the ones you need to avoid.
