Well, I was all set to order some Salvia online but a friend told me about a local store that sells the extract and leaves.

I did some research and thought I might try the quid-chewing method first. I read up on it a bit, but the FAQ's and such only go so far...I was curious if anyone here had any firsthand advice on this technique?
(I've yet to see the leaves this store has...and it's possible they'll be dry or fresh...so one thing I'm curious about is how dry can they be before chewing them isn't an option?)

I have all the basics covered...sitter, nice quiet setting, whole night/day to myself...just more wandering about any experiences/tips you guys may have.

you can rehudrate them by soaking
but they are probably dry and broken and dirty.
meantime they are ~40 times as powerful if you smoke
    so
get extract if you don't like smoking
    and smoke less
i.e. a gram of 10x might easily be 50 smoked doses to the other side. each beng 1/50th of the gram in size, so you hardly smoke at all!

personally I do not like quid except fresh leaves of the plant.
and then it still tastes bitter and yucky

Well, they didn't have much selection...I ended up picking up a 1/2 ounce of extract. It's all pretty broken up and dry though...not too sure I'd be able to do much soaking it.

I tried smoking a small amount and trouble doing fast, deep inhalations with the smoke being so hot. I did experience some slight effects, but nothing too remarkable...

I still have quite a bit left, any suggestions? Am I best off trying to pipe-smoke it again...or is there other things to look into?

Also, I read up on erowid about the infusion technique but am still a little fuzzy...anyone tried that before?

    you wont like it
you say you got 1/2 oz of extract but you prolly got 1/2 oz of plain leaf
you can make extract from it so that you smoke less.

or maybe you got 1/2 gram of extract (what power extract??)

yeah there's nothing on the pack marking the amount of extract either...I was wondering about that myself.
It calls itself extract, but I know that means little...it's "Club 13" brand if that means anything.
I tried again this evening...all sorts of techniques, even took the water outta the pipe and let the crap burn me. Nothing but a very slight "head high", certainly not what I'd come to expect from Salvia.

I'd really just prefer to find fresh leaves or leaves I can rehydrate...know of any sites that offer these or, if nothing else, a site that offers extract that people here know will work?

If you wish to quid then fresh is the best..you can re hydrate butas has been mentioned they break when dry and when re soaking may not stay together very well. Quiding is definatly worth going for, it is closer to the traditional method and lasts longer, it does not have the intensity that smoking the leaf ora leaf extract will have.
If you do go for extract then there seems to be alot of 'dud' extracts out there...go for ours at www.spiritgarden.co.uk as it is gooood quality!

Humidore like the cigar fanatics use. Any super dry plant matter burns like hell than with a slight moisture content. that is why I make my own extract so that I can control how dry it is...also, many volatiles come off better with a higher moisture content. BTW, i have gotten quid o work exactly once. It does last longer but I prefer to smoke.
