I checked out the Celestine Prophecy from the library. Unfortunately I moved, and it got lost during the move. I did manage to the first part of the book though. I think I managed to get to where he was discovering the 4th or 5th insight. I've always been pretty aware of coincidences. I've had too many of them occur right in front of my face to not take notice. I know this sounds cheesy, but one time I was talking to my friends and telling them about a dream that I had involving tornadoes. Sometime during the conversation I said munchkin (in reference to the wizard of oz). In the immediate second following a man on the tv said "munchkin park". I didn't know whether or not to take that as some type of sign, or just a random occurance. How often do you hear the word munchkin from two different people in unrelated conversation in a 2 second period though? I just figured maybe I shouldn't go to Munchkin Park or a giant 2 ton waffle would fall from the sky and smash mel.

    Redfield kept it short.

I admire an author who knows his limitations.

Once Redfield's insights are all unravelled, the whole conspiricy plot looks like a waste of time.

Wait till you start walking on water to raise the dead, then you had better keep an eye on your back!

If you're interested in synchronicities, C.G. Jung is the fountainhead. (did I say that?)

I just finished the 10th Insight. Also very good. Not quite as potent as CP, but still good. I ripped each of them apart in 2 day periods.

A friend turned me onto the Prophecy and Tenth Insight like 7 or 8 years ago when I was in high school. At the time I really got into them. Maybe it was all the acid I was eating at the time. Now, looking back they seem a little cheesy, but they are a good mind opener. Reading them gets you to look at things a little differently and that my friend is always good. I also read the Celestine Vision and started the newest book in the series The Secret of Shambhala, but put it down a while ago and never finished it.

Written by James Redfield, is about the emerging spiritual awareness that's gradually taking over human consciousness and how the world is going to shift from a materialist culture to one where peace and justice are the over-riding principles.

Definitely pick this book up, especially if you have an interested in Metaphysics. It's extremely relevant to today's world.
There's also a movie of the same title that's expected to be released later this year!

and "The Third Millennium" by Ken Carey

no offense to Lynn Grabhorn, but the title of that book "excuse me, your life is waiting", sounds like a cheesy self-help type book. People have to start picking better titles. They have to "grab" you! None beat Redfield's! haha

This book is absoloutely mind blowing. It has made me think of each aspect of my life on a completely new level, and opened many, many doors. Has anyone else read this life altering, inspiring book?

((..also, I believe that this is the first in many sequals? What are the orders of the books?))

Yeah, I read this quite a few years ago. I liked it also, and found that it made me think about things on a different level. It puts forward some interesting theories about life, the meaning of life, and an awareness of a metaphysical world that exists around, and within us.

    Great book.
I'm not sure how the book sequence goes but I read the green one
and can't remember the title as I gave it away for someone else to
    benefit from the book.
It changed my way of thinking too and made the think about life in
a new way. Things like coincidences and De Ja Vu's have an
underlying meaning, etc. I could'nt put the book down and read it
    almost in one sitting.
Great stuff you two above who have read it.

I read the first two books in the series a few months ago. They were pretty mind opening. It was kind of entertaining at the same time because it was taught through a story sort of. I have yet to read the last of the series but I'll go back and read the first two before I read the last.

The only problem is trying to get others to read them. Everyone hears 'prophecy' and the automatically assume that it deals in religion.

I thought it was pretty good at the time. You can find more information on the tenth revelation or rule on the website. Just search 'Celestine Prophecy' and then name of the author - i forgot his name.

I found, however, that books like the 'Celestine Prophecy' and even 'The Alchemist' if you have read it, are simplifications of more complicated books like those of Carlos Castanedas. His books on Don Juan's teachings are in my opinion more complicated but I feel that they reveal similar issues in greater depth.

As with all 'New Age' topics, I feel they must be ingested with a grain of salt. Another more anthropologically(sp) related book that comes off as more plausible is 'Ishmael' by Daniel Quinn. I highly recommend it.

I felt as if the initial shine of 'The Celestine Prophecy' wore off after a while. I'm leaning towards the conclusion that they are all compilations and over-simplifications of complicated topics, much like mix cd's only give a listener the 'mainstream' version of a genre of music.
