Not to sound all "Homeland Security" on you, but please, be very careful with statements like those you used in your last sentence. The authorities take any discussion of that particular topic very seriously, and that's not a new thing from the current administration either. To my knowledge, even threatening to do what you mentioned, is in fact a felony.

I know you have no such intention of performing such an act yourself, so I doubt DHS will be knocking down your door for that one remark. But please, don't be flippant about things like that.

I agree about there being a lot of anticipation for "something", like there's a lot of pressure building up right now towards who-knows-what. But the least we can do during this buildup is not advocate specific events that are likely to get people thrown in the slammer, you know?

Uhh, guys, this isn't a "thought police" thing (I'm as pro-civil-rights and anti-DHS as you can get). This is specifically in regard to references of presidential assassination. Even in the most peaceful of times during this past century, that's never been a line you crossed in public conversation unless you wanted a secret service visit. It's not a new post-9/11 thing, and not a fear-culture thing. It's been a standing issue much longer than that.

It's great to promote free speech, but don't push the line so damn hard that you get yourself (or worse, the owner of this board) investigated or arrested. We've got plenty of battles to fight already over various actions of the Bush administration, and this is not one of those actions. Don't add to the plate.

We know the routine. Stay the fuck in line and you'll eat whatever the cafeteria provides.

Wow, you guys are dicks, the dude was just letting the original poster know that he could get in serious trouble for the statement made. Accusing everyone of beingh a fascist neo-con just because they're trying to inform someone of something is just fucking pathetic.

'Tards. What Kinsei said is on the money. Even if you stood out in your street and said "Kill my Neighbor" with a big sign, they'd investigate you. It's not a free speech issue, it's just routine. I don't advocate killing anybody but I wouldn't mind seeing him in jail as he is a criminal. But anyway, yeah I think that there's a global buildup in the collective conscious/unconscious going on that's been going on for quite some time. Not all of it has to do with post 9/11 really. The old adage' stands "Seek and ye shall find".

what if you didn't threaten to do it, you just said you were going to? nobody would be stupid enough to say it if they were going to, but the question remains...

oh, and it would be interesting to say you were going to just to see what happened... especially if you were in canada where i doubt it's actually illegal
