any advices? 1.the prices i've seen vary from 5e to 8,50e i wonder how much it would cost for a single person. (i a having my own tent) only shower and maybe puplical cooking place for electricity 2.is it okay to leave things in your tent (of course nothing expensive just books cd.s cd player dvd.s and stuff) they wont get stolen in camping area etc. 3. are there forest in netherlands? in finland where i am from there are forest everywhere and its easy to camp there for a night unbothered and for free. can you tent out freely in holland country side or parks? 4. about how the metros, trains, busses work out how much they cost do they realy check the customers can you get free etc they probably dont take kindly me smoking joint/pipe full of hash/bud in the camping grounds since i'am going to holland (probably mostly amsterdam) for 60 days june to july 2006 on my not so large budget of about 1000-2000e and i damn sure am going to stay the whole time since marijuana is legal i can live cheaply with food eating canned food bread cheese and like. mushrooms me alone in my happy tent allso any information do the locals like maybe hosting a nice tourist for small amount of money (like in france) i've been reading for a month now and i think i know most of the basics.
I used Camping Gasperlas last time. Its out south of the city near a large park and lake complex. You must use the Metro or bus to get there or drive. I would recomend this campground before the others. It's clean no problem with your stuff going missing and about 9 euro per day. They have a store which is convent and expensive. The metro is 20 min. from city center to the camp.
thx do they have a website? do you remember street address? and it can be farther 1h travel by train or metro is okay with me so it can be in a diffirent province
Don't have advice, because I don't know where you want to go. You can check out this page: http://campings.verzamelgids.nl/ Here you'll find a lot of campsites in the Netherlands, unfortunately it's in Dutch. Camping in the Netherlands is just like in any other country in Europe I think. (Though I didn't camp much here, because I have my own house and friends where I can stay ) Prices probably depend on where you're staying, if you stay at a small campsite with a farmer, it's probably cheaper, than one with a swimmingpool, bar, disco etc. You can leave things in your tent I think, if someone wants to rob you, it will happen, you can't do anything about it. Take expensive stuff with ya, otherwise just put them in your sleepingbag orso. But it's a risc ofcourse, but I don't think someone would steal a book orsomething like that. I don't think it's possible to camp at any place which is not a campsite. For metro's, trams and buses you use a buscart (called 'strippenkaart'). You can buy them on a train station, in a bus (metro I don't know.. don't use them). In Amsterdam there's also a 'tram', that's the metro above the ground. '15 strippen' costs 6,70E. But if you want to travel by bus or metro for a day, you'd better buy a daycart which costs 12,80E. With '2 strippen' you can travel in one zone. 3 strippen 2 zones. 4 strippen 3 zones etc. If you want to travel a long distance you'd better take a train, because that's probably much cheaper. In buses they check when you get in the bus, only student buses sometimes let you get in on the back door, but that's probably not the bus you'll take. Tram depends. Metro I don't know. You can still take a train without buying a ticket, but they check your ticket very often, so I wouldn't take the risk, if you get caught, it will cost you the ticket price + 35E. If you smoke in the camping grounds, I don't think they will mind, just don't do it with kids around and stuff, just in or around your tent is no problem. If you cook yourself, just check out the cheap prices in the supermarket, cans with vegetables are cheap, meat is expensive, I wouldn't buy cheese if you want a cheap holliday.. cheese isn't cheap (that's what I think ofcourse). But you have to check it out yourselve. You'd better not buy much in campingstores they are often expensive. I don't think there are much locals who want to host a tourist, but you can always try, you can put your tent in my garden for free But I live in the north, near Groningen. And I'm probably on my own holiday when you're in the Netherlands . Hope this will help Peace, Rachel
thx a lot well i am just going to get flight tickets to amsterdam and see from there where i am going i am definetly not living 60 days in amsterdam or ill become psycothic cheese is cheap in this sense 5-10e for 500g-1kg cheese i think meaning a BIG big peace of cheese if you it all you get lots of proteins and fat and i seriously say i can live atleast 5 days without losing any weight (1-2e a day for food is not much) if i eat a big packet of cheese. grocery shops are probably pretty much the same price as in finland we just probably have higher taxes( i dont think they can get higher) i have been cooking for my self and my family about 3-4 years so no worryes i wont starve especialy since i my current unhealthy stats are 110kg and 188cm i think ill buy pipe from a headshop and i will try to hide my tent in the woods or near a field ,under the bridge etc
